Music in relation to cars

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I don't know if I'm in the right forum, but admins, please move this if need be.

Anyways, I'm sitting here listening to one of my favorite bands, "Lamb of God" and it got me thinking. I listen to other types of music to change things up from time to time, but 90% of it is metal in some form or another. I'm by no means unique in my taste of music, but most times when I go to car shows or just hanging out around town, fellas with modded cars(as well as those without) seem to always be listening to rap/hip-hop. Sign of the times maybe? I'm not saying anything's wrong with that, but I almost feel like a bit of an oddity. When I'm screaming down the highway, I'm literally screaming! Outside of "Hot-Rod" shows, I don't think I could ever recall someone blasting hard rock or metal. Of course anything's appropriate, it's your car, but it seems almost "cookie-cutter" to me. Any other metal heads out there or what is it that you like most listening to while in your ride?, and it doesn't have to be a BMW either.

I'd be happy if most people at shows were playing rap/hip hop over this EDM crap.

I feel like what I listen to in the car tends to be the exception to what I might listen to normally. My favorites tend to be in the realm of Metallica/Maiden/hair metal/classic rock, but I rarely listen to that when I drive. Driving calls for something a little more upbeat and fun, and sometimes that's hip hop. Music also tends to influence my driving so it's probably better that I skip Raining Blood and don't ram people off the road.

No metal here. I will only listen to country if I am driving the truck (it feels fitting, I guess), but other than that, I can't stand listening to country?

BMW requires good beats, same with the motorcycle. Hip hop, classical trance, ASOT w/ Armin Van Buuren is good for on the road.

i feel like as i lay dying always gets me pumped while driving. trivium does as well(their old stuff, not the new garbage)

most of the time i listen to metallica, RHCP, and switch between octane, alt nation, faction, and metal on satellite radio. i do enjoy the occasional good hip hop, not that shit that plays on the radio these days.

I tend to listen to a variety as well. Ranging from 90s hip hop to various kinds of rock. Some of the artists you may hear me blaring could be
Five Finger Death Punch
All That Remains
Disturbed
Tool
Linkin Park
Hollywood Undead
Killswitch Engage
Volbeat
Outkast
Usher (from the 90s)

I've listened to "Hammer Smashed Face" many, many times in my E30. For some reason when I get in the E60 I'm in the mood for something more relaxing. I guess cars do have personality after all.

mostly rap but my other choices very greatly from metal (the faceless, between the buried and me, all shall perish etc... and than random stuff like Wham! and funny music. I like to be diverse in my music choice but I enjoy rap the most. Lamb of God is one of my favorite bands ever tho

From the Kinks, Hendrix, Clapton,Led Zeppelin and AC/DC to Metallica, RATM Foo Fighters, Rammstein Audioslave and Them Crooked Vultures. Etc etc.

But Blues, old R&B, some Johnny Cash and Fats Domino, BB King I like too. Just like U2, Simple Minds etc.

My daughter likes Van Buuren, Tiesto(because they're from here lol) and I was at some Afrojack show in Spain and I liked that as well.

All fine by me.

Cheers

I happen to think metal is crap and isn't music.
See how that works?

But in reality, I'm sure I could be educated on the nuances of metal and then develop an appreciation of it. I currently don't hate it, I just don't know enough about it to want to listen to it when there is a choice to listen to other things.

Music, like art often has to be taught to be understood and appreciated. This is especially with genres of music that is difficult for people understand. Me, I'm a hiphop junkie till I die.

This could be the most subjective topic on the forum. However, I always find some electronic music fitting. Glitch Mob, Araabmuzik, Emicka. Stuff I would never listen to outside of the car for some reason. NO Dubstep, though (Lol).

I listen to absolutely everything except country. In the metal range I like It Dies Today, Killswitch, As I Lay Dying, and All That Remains. I do find metal to be very good driving music. I get so amped the hair on my arms stands up.

I'll be honest, since starting this thread I've started to pop in more different types of music and though metal gets me pumped to drive, the other genres are equally fun. Hell, I dubbed it to work today! 8)

I listen to Hard Rock/Metal when I'm driving. Most of the time that's what's playing off of my phone.

One of my favorites that I love blasting while on the on ramp to a highway...

i used to listen to only rap/hip hop then I randomly heard an edm song (fresh fruit- tiesto) in my car while I was driving on the freeway at 1am and have been hooked ever since edm goes perfect with the sound of the engine and can sometimes create a nice rush of adrenaline. I still listen to rap/hip hop but I try to mix things up as much as possible.

The more genres of music you can enjoy the more power to you
