Lightbulb EBII 435i M Sport Review with Pics (Auto Express UK)

Not much of a review.. but at least there's pics of the M Sport on the track.

Full Review: AUTOEXPRESS UK 435I MSPORT REVIEW

Here's the driving review part:

Quote:
We only had the chance to test the car on a smooth race circuit – so can’t be sure how the suspension tweaks effect the ride on UK roads – but considering how well cushioned the standard car is, the changes shouldn’t be drastic. What we can report, though, is that the M Sport model acquits itself extremely well when driven hard.

While the steering feels strangely light and artificial at low speeds and in Comfort mode, it comes alive when you toggle up into Sport+ , offering just the right amount of resistance and pin-point accuracy. There’s still a hint of body roll in fast turns, but once it’s settled on its springs it feels perfectly stable. Plus, like in all good BMWs, you can adjust your line using the throttle.

The six-cylinder engine is unchanged, so provides the same linear responses, smooth acceleration and muted growl from the exhausts. The eight-speed auto is also excellent in a huge variety of situations, but can be reluctant to shift down under heavy braking for a tight corner.

The only thing that's odd to me is the level of hype this automatic tranny is getting. The marketting team has done a great job of not letting people know it still has a tq converter.

its because its fast. it doesnt matter what is inside of the transmission. all they care is if its fast or not and how smooth it is

What's odd about that? It's a good transmission.

I just think the car is absolutely plain. There are no beautiful lines or unique ques. The cheesy fake vent is a distraction.

It looks like a Camry. An old one at that.

I expect a lot more from a car they broke away from being called a 3 series.

It's vanilla. Plain. Boring. Mehh.

Have you driven the car? More specifically, the new 8-speed tranny on a BMW?
You will think otherwise...

The 4 series needs the mperformance exterior parts more than the F30. Remember that white one with the mperf parts. That's the way to go.

I agree, I'm disappointed how this car looks. It looks great when they showed the concept car. But I'm sorry to admit it looks like the A5/S5 is still better looking.

I know this is sacrilege, but I think the F30 M-Sport looks miles better. Maybe it is because it reminds me of an M5 in this blue color.

The way the hood slopes into the front bumper is just plain weird. Parts of the car are beautiful and others are hideous. I'm not sure it will ever grow on me

Agreed. I thought the M-sport would make it look better, but sadly it doesn't

Just so I'm clear, is this the 8sp auto that's in the X1 xdrive28i? If so, my parents have that transmission, and I don't understand what the hype is about.

The 'fake vent' is actually fully functional, it serves as an "air-curtain" to improve aerodynamics, part of efficentdynamics. Just sayin.

I think the car is boring too. It drives me crazy that this is called a 4-Series when the e92 was much more visually distinguishable from the e90. This looks too similar to the f30 to warrant a completely different name.

there is really noting special about the new 4 seri coupe. BMW is going to the
wrong direction. Untimate driving machine does not exist anymore. I hope Bmw
can come back on track for the new BMW M3

I love the interior but the exterior of the production model does not wow me as much as the E92 or the concept did when i first saw them. This also looks like the 3 series wagon or GT from some angles which i think is hideous, but thats just my opinion.

This is such an ignorant comment First you own an F31 you cant possibly absolutely hate a car thats based on the one you own, and very very close design wise ie the front, the interior etc to yours

Second more ignorance, the VENT ACTUALLY WORKS and channels cold air to the brakes, this was demonstrated and explained hundreds of times here
No it's not ignorant at all. The F31 has totally different roof lines and side lines actually. You should take a look.

The vent whether it works or not is a distraction. It looks like a Ford Taurus. It's as bad as the M5.

I think the A5 is better looking. And tbh it's pretty boring.

I tend to agree with others that it has a fantastic chassis but the body is pretty plain.
