The 2014 328d build-your-own configurator is now available on BMWUSA.

Heres a link : http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...modelcode=1435

Admin note:
It appears that the site is still being worked on so there may be some glitches/incorrect info.

For official info/specs on the 328d, see here.
For 2014 328d pricing/order guide, see here.

Nice catch! I have been stalking the website for a while waiting on this. For those interested, here is the link to the 328d F31. Unlike the F30 configurator, it does not appear to be fully baked yet, as they are not showing any lines.

I've been waiting for this a long time and have been checking the site daily recently. I'll start building now. Replacing my wife's is250, will probably get the 328d m-sport.

No way I'd get a 328d over 328i. It's $2k more with same options. It doesn't make any sense unless BMW will be offering EcoCredit on it.

That's not going to fully offset it. Even if it were the full $7,500 (unlikely) if your effective tax rate is around 20%, that's only worth $1,500 and you have to wait until you file your taxes to recognize it.

But I'd still rather have the 328d for the low end torque on my commute and the range for road trips.

Edit - oops, I keep forgetting that BMW has forgotten to offer us a manual. Never mind, I would not rather have this over a 328i.

It makes sense if:

-You drive 15k per year (I used to do 25,000 miles a year now I'm down to around 18k - long commutes, and traveling salesmen rejoice!)
-You plan on owning the car long term (IE not leasing it for 3 years)
-You already drive a car that takes premium in which case the diesel fuel delta is negligible.
-They can achieve the near 40mpg average like most diesel drivers (compared to the 25-30mpg typical mileage of a 328i)

If you do the math, you could save over $1000 each year. Most people who buy the diesels plan on owning them for the long haul, so then it starts to make sense.

Heres to wishing they bring over the F31 335D by the time my lease is up in 2015...

+1 with getting a 335d here in a couple years, that's the car I want.
For me, I think paying the extra $1500 is worth the extra cost.
She drives 15,000 miles a year.
She won't have to fill up the tank as often, 500+ miles per tank is awesome!
The torque is great as a daily driver and she isn't the type to rev an engine to redline.
I also calculated costs of $4.00 for premium fuel vs. $4.20 for diesel. With 28-29 mpg for 328i vs. 40 mpg for 328d. For the past month diesel has been 10 -15 cents cheaper than premium, but normally it's 10 -20 cents more per gallon.
I figured it will take 2 - 3 years to recoup the $1500.

I'd do the diesel over the gas 328 if they did 6MT + touring. No question.

Same here. A rwd F31 with a manual could have a Husqvarna two stroke in it and I'd drive it.

I want a RWD wagon. Automatic is fine with me since it's such a short rev range.

It is there now if you go through the normal build your own link. It also shows the 328d base price the same as 328i. Is that an error?

Also, for the 328d xdrive, it doesn't provide a sport line as an option. I wonder if they that will be the case or if they are still tinkering with the site? I thought all lines would be available for the 328d xdrive as the 328i xdrive. The non xdrive diesel offers a sport line.

They're still updating the site. This morning I built a car and it shows all 3 lines (lux, s-line, & M-sport). Now when I build it, it's not giving me an image. Also, I noticed it has a dual exhaust on the left side, but the actual car will only have a single exhaust pipe. The other detail is no rear rotor, you can see through the wheel, but it has a front rotor... Give them a few days to sort everything out.

Maybe, but you should have bought yours while it was still posted that way. LOL

Yeah the 8 speed has to be a very nice mate to the short gearbox...

Plus turbo diesels are guaranteed a fun bump in power with a piggy back and torque is more fun than horsepower in most daily driving conditions. How often do you get to actually use all 8000 revs on an M3 if you're like me and spend most of your day in bumper to bumper traffic....

The 335d is going to be insane. Over 400lb/tq and about 315 hp. The only thing not to like are the tail pipes. Lol

One small question from over the pond any ideas where BMW pulled the 328 number from over in UK we have had 320D for many years and its this engine. 325D and 330D have been 3L 6-cyl diesels with 330 about 264bhp so odd for them to pick a 328 bade. I suspect a marketing to go direct compare against the 328i which makes no sense at all either
