pretty much all places have the ability to make the same deals. You just have to know how to work the people.

Expect at least 15% off, and if they aren't willing to do that, come back another day and try again. The more the see you, the more serious they will take you and be willing to work a price. Also, it helps to build a relationship with specific people.

If you know a lot about the specific product and how old it is/how long it's been in the store, you know how much they can move the price. If things have been in for more then a year, expect up to about 30% (that's the extreme side) and 30% is really doable for them because they got the product in before all the price hikes, so they have room to move still.

As a general rule, I expect to be able to get about 20% unless it's extremely limited production or a special (which is really the same thing) If it's brand new to the store, don't expect to get more then 10-15% and if they will only give you 10, they are being stingy.

Know your product, know what you can get it for online before you talk to anyone. A real sales agent will be 2-300 more then the lowest prices you see on the internet because they aren't selling grey market products, all their stuff will have warranty and such, and that's what you pay the extra 2-300 for. If you're not worried about the papers/warranty, then grab the cheapest thing you can find on the internet and don't look back because you're getting a hell of a deal.

Otherwise, go on forums like Watchuseek and check out the vendors in there, they tend to do the deal range I was talking about, and some ship for free.

best of luck!

I've been considering many watches as I save money for my next one. Most have largish dials, or are rectangle (Reverso), but today I saw a very nice 1950"s vintage Gubelin ademars Piguet, in yellow gold, more of a dress style watch, but oh so very nice. It had a nice petina as well.

Very similar to this watch, but the seconds hand is midway down at the 6:00 position.

the pricing for such a vintage piece by AP doesn't seem too bad. And I believe every collection should have a dressy piece

There's so many nice watches out there, it's hard to choose.

Just picked this watch up over the holiday weekend. Seems like a fashion watch compared to say IWC, but still a very nice piece. I also got a metal bracelet to go along with it.

I actually had a chance to check it out last weekend, and i thought it was a little too big for my wrist. They had a similar model, but with a 42mm case and a brown Alligator band (model 10082) that I liked and will most likely purchase within the next few weeks.

Bumping this one up.

Picked up a PAM 111 a couple of weeks back. Just got a Panatime strap for it last week.

Just cause it's fun.

how a watch works

If anyone wants to embed it, feel free, when I try to do it, it makes me hate life.

Ferrari paddock cronograph carbon (wince)
I wanted it for two years, then they discontinued it, so while i was in england, i went in the ferrari store and finally convinced my parents that I should get it before the last in-store ones were sold.

Still lucky in my books. I am not as fortunate as you to have parents provide for me as well as yours have.

I have to earn everything myself.

I'm confused. 13 with an M3... so are you holding it for 3-5 years for when you can drive? Or is it just your parents'?

Nice Ferrari watch though. Looks pretty cool! I personally don't wear apparel for things I don't have though. Unless your parents also have a Ferrari (which even though isn't yours, would be an exception in my books haha)

My dad doesn't like flashy cars. Thats why we went for an m3 for a summer car. SLS roadster might be next. I do drive the m3. I was driving last week at 5:30 A.M. on back roads with dad because I want to really learn stickshift. I nearly hit a deer that darted out in front of me but luckily pressed the brakes in time. M3 is really fun car on the back roads.
