If you had the hard choice of picking Luxury Line over Sport Line, would giving up just the sport seats defeat the purpose of getting a RWD BMW?

Reason I ask... I've been tempted to buy a BMW Luxury. Exterior wise its a draw on the two.

Interior wise, I find myself wanting the burl and no red stitched seats of the luxury line. Yet those amazing Sportline seats.

As an aside, lets not include M sport as an option if you can. Rather, is there life in a luxury line after you've experienced sports seats?

You have to try both seats and see if you care about the difference or not. It's that simple. I personally didn't care.

Luxury line also doesn't have the 704 sport suspension of the sport line, or the option for the sport automatic. Which are kind of important for a lot of people.

And you can get a sport line with anthracite wood and gray/black leather, which looks very sharp IMO.

Doesn't the dynamic handling Pack add back the adaptive m suspension as well?

Making a decision is difficult. I've done all the homework. I just need to pick on or the other. I think flipping a coin is all I can do at this point.

I have sat in both. Maybe drive both. my dealer may kill me.

Luxury line doesn't have the lowered suspension where sports line does.
Also need to consider if you want the car to be sportier or more comfortable depending on what you prefer.
This is more than just the seat
I had sports seats in my E86 Z4 and E92 335 coupe, I don't really drive my F30 328 sedan hard enough to need that.
You may also find the larger dimensions of the car make you not turn as hard as an E92.

What about if you never had an f30 but in the past had a 5 series ?

Thanks, you are right, its a little more than seat. Seats, lower suspension, those beautiful 18s on sportline. And exterior wise a different look.

BUt i am woken up to the fact luxury doesnt have a sport suspension even on the dynamic handling pack. I over looked this point big time.

Going manual. BUT again, totally get the lack of sports suspension on the LUXURY.

I've always had sport seats. Sat in a regular F30 during my "test drive" and hated the normal seats.

WHy make normal seats in a BMW.

Luxury line ought to have a sport seat option. I wouldn't be losing sleep over this. ANd yes, no one should lose sleep over a car, but i think i am close to getting this done.

I'd love to help here but wouldn't have bought the car w/o M-Sport... Also, the Dakota Leather is worth the add.....

Actually you're confused. The luxury line doesn't come with the sport suspension, but if you add DHP you do get the Adaptive M suspension.

EDIT: is this a 335i or 328i we're talking about?

Depends on your butt and back...I liked the sport seats, but wasn't going to pay all that extra for them, since that was one of the few reasons I would've opted for a Sports/M Sport line.

My base normal seats with lumbar are great, and the M Performance suspension mops the floor in setup compared to what the M/Sport line have to offer. Ironically, I'm limited by the bolsters when cornering now (lol). But I'm not tracking this car, it's a DD.

I test drove both before I bought my sport line. For me BMW's standard seats are lacking. I too wanted to save a few bucks and I liked the Luxury line a lot. In the end the seats were not for me and when i found out that I could not get the sport susp., my choice became easy. I have a E90 with sport seats as well and I can tell you the new F30 sports seats are 100% improved. The choice is yours. Good Luck.

Once you have/experience the mod cons BMW have on offer, it will be very hard not to have them. If you don't have them, like for me the Adaptive suspension as I have the Sport suspension, I don't really know what I'm missing. Yes, the adaptive is great, I'm told, which I believe, but I wasn't going to pay twice for suspension. Shame I couldn't specify suspension with M-Sport. No issue with Sport suspension, mind you. It's very good.

I have the HUD. No way I could have a car without it. Same with sports seats. Really comfy, wide range of adjustments and it keeps you well secure in the seat. Why wouldn't you have it in our sports sedans. (Statement, not a question)

My first Bimmer, a 1996 E36 had very comfortable "premium" seats, but on my next two, a 2007 E46 and 2011 E90, the standard seats have gotten considerably worse. Sport seats are the main reason my ordered F30 is a Sport Line. I tried the F30 standards and they were again progressively worse. But, that could just be me, all gut and no butt.

(Hmmm...come to think of it, my gut has gotten considerably worse too!)

I was torn, too, between Luxury and Sport.

I was replacing an E90 330i and, at the end of the day, decided that since ZSL offered a square tire setup (important to me for cost reasons) I would try the Sport line.

Now, I'd never go back. Those seats are wonderful, amazing, astonishing. They make the car.

Many people think that Volvo makes the best seats in the business. I used to think so, too. My wife's XC60 seats are so comfortable we've done 400 miles in a day without nary a cramp.

But on a recent trip from Boston to NJ in my F30, my wife blurted out, "These are the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in in a car."

While I think a RWD ZSL is the ultimate F30 (sorry, M Sports fans, but there's just too much bling in that package and too little M) for a bunch of reasons, now that I clocked 6K miles in those seats I realize I'd pay the $1700 for the seats alone.

Wow, lots of static completely unrelated to the original question. I wouldn't give up the sport seats for anything. Some of the best stock seats I've ever sat upon. I can drive for hours at a time with zero fatigue or discomfort.

Agreed 100% !! I have driven BMWs for almost 30 years, each one has had sport seats. Having driven various BMW courtesy loaners without sport seats, I would never consider owning a BMW 3 Series without Sport Seats.

The F30 sport seats are even better than the ones in the E90.

As for the OP's wish to get burl walnut trim and no red stitching (as found in the Sport line), the solution is to order the M Sport option which would give you exactly what you want along with the best looking F30 available.
