I own a f20 125i wich share the same n20 engine as the f30 328i. Is there any chance to get the same tune for my car?

If you can get it.

Here in CA, 91 is the highest we get...

Thanks for the info. I've never seen a 93 pump in la. I gotta research it.

Probably for some sort of Cali emissions they don't have 93 octane, see what octane booster they have.

I literally can't waittt to get the stage 2 on my car, I have an e85 station about 3 min from my house!!!

What excites me the most is potentially having 325whp/390wtq on tap with a turbo back exhaust!!

Having (approx.) +90whp/+135wtq over stock is just nuts

Would the E85 be comparable to mixing a tank with 100 octane?
E85 is drt cheap and is about 110 octane. I used to keep 20 gallons at home because it was literally less than 10 mpg ha.

More power than the 100 octane tune, nice.

But I have read and asked terry if you are able to use 91 for the stage 2 tune, he said yes you can. In fact he mentioned on another thread that you can use 91, you may not get as much power with 85, but the power will still definitely be higher than stage 1! They will bring out the dyno results using 91 and 93 pretty soon from what i read. It should be very interesting.

I'm eagerly awaiting 93 octane results, if possible with knock sensor monitoring. We do have 93 octane, a 328i and a dyno if any help is needed. Thanks for isolating the air filter on the dyno. You've saved a lot of people a lot of money. Did you isolate the filter at 23 pounds of boost or at the lower stage one level?

Just lurking, nice numbers. My concern is the fact that the cars aren't designed for E85 and what effect does it have? Warranty issues? Premature wear? Anything else?

I know cars that can run E85 like to advertise it prominently. Not sure what changes need to be done to safely support it, but just has me wondering as it's a huge increase in power coupled with decrease in fuel efficiency.

when i had my evo, E85 was also widely used.. only couple parts that req. were larger injectors & high capacity fuel pump. There were no signs of premature wear on fuel lines etc etc.. it's clean fuel.. I'm asuming as long as tuning is within range of our stock fuel supply system, there wouldn't be any contraindications.. i'm def. waiting until they introduce this stg 2 tuning ..

The concern with E85 isn't that it's not "clean", it's the alcohol/ethanol used to formulate E85.
But, seems tuners have and are using it with no ill effects.
Still, BMW recommends using no more than 10% ethanol mixed fuel.
E85 is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline.
Time and mileage will tell if the alcohol has any damaging effects.

Alcohol has a greater cooling effect in the combustion chamber and that results in a higher octane rating.
But, it also has a less thermal energy, which will lower MPG.
Initial cost per gallon may be less, but overall you'll spend more by needing more E85 to cover the same mileage as regular gasoline.

Here is a good article/experiment showing the MPG differences and costs associated with using E85.
The power/accel tests in this article don't really translate directly, but I post this article for the MPG question not power performance comparison.
http://www.edmunds.com/fuel-economy/...ison-test.html

Some people will say there is not point to E85 as it costs more to operate and doesn't save much on emissions.
BUT, the biggest thing to remember about E85 is that it is a RENEWABLE fuel resource, meaning, we have ways to produce more over the long haul compared to the limited amount of oil available. Once we run out of oil we're out of gasoline too.
At that point E85 will look real good, unless we're mostly in electric cars by then.

What I would like to know is how much power loss do we get using only 91 octane. Personally i still don't feel comfortable enough using E85.

I will dyno both ways. I bet 30-35whp from 93, 22-27whp on 91 on a Dynojet. That's my guess.

Have you set your boost to +4psi yet?
Maybe try dynos at 3 & 4.
Cheers

I have the cable, but no answer on what to raise the 2nd circled number.

I am not in a rush as I am still on snow tires, so it just means more wheelspin. Dyno'ing at 3 and 4psi is what I meant when I said the two power guesstimates.

Tell you what, the butt dyno says it all. It is fantastic and fast. Very aggressive and so much fun. Most of the time my car is in Comfort and when you ask the car to perform, it does so with so much vigour. Sport mode is ballistic, so I can only imagine what stage 2 will present.

Yes, as you certainly would have read, I asked Mike what the second field was about, but so far no answer.

Got it about your weather conditions.

And on our side of the planet, we are experiencing the hottest weather run since records were started in 1856.

Cheers

91-92 octane is pretty bad. Don't expect much over Stage1 tuning with it. Maybe a handful of HP, some additional torque, and less lag.

For the +4psi setting only the 'boost over stock' field is changed.

Thanks!

Do you have a direct link to the N55 software I need to download to tinker with the boost?

So when you pump 85 do you pump a few gallons or fill up the tank? Does it cause your engine light to go on?
