One for you experts out there.... when the car decelerates rapidly on account of the cruise control, do the brake lights show?
I have noticed that if I have the cruise set to say 70mph and I then use the rocker thing on the steering wheel to drop the speed to 60mph quickly, the car actually feels like it's braking. I guess it's similar for those with active cruise, if a car pulls in front of you then you'll probably slow quite quickly. Is the car actually using the brakes (as opposed to engine braking) to slow the car down, in which case do the brake lights come on, given that you haven't actually plonked your foot on the pedal? This is the first car I've had with cruise control that does this. Previous cars seemed to just gently lose speed (by coasting?) until the lower set speed is achieved. I know the F30 (as well as other models) has 'Brake Drying' so seems it can apply the brakes when it feels the need.

I hope so, only noticed the brake effect the other day. I thought it would cruise to the lower speed but found it braked quite hard. Don't think i'll do that next time as i could annoy the person behind me for unnecessary braking when there is no obstruction in front.

Yes they do. I set my CC to 30 mph down a very long, winding and steep hill near Whitby and could see the brake light reflection in the road signs and car behind. Quite a surreal experience not braking and putting my trust in some electronics!

Yes it definitely does put the brake lights on when the CC is slowing the car down a lot. Also you can feel it is using the brakes if you then want to slow down even more as the pedal travels very little (!) before major stopping power of the brakes!!
