Brakes, I wasn't expecting that

This is the first time I have noticed this but I had to use my brakes in anger on the motorway today and nearly threw myself over the handle bars.

There seemed to be a reduced brake pedal travel when I braked at speed is this normal or did I dream this.

I think the brakes are designed to automatically slam the brakes on full if you do an emergency stop. So they take the strain, so to speak.

It's a safety system that engages by determining how fast you let off of the gas pedal. If you have an emergency stop, you will let off the gas pedal at a faster rate than normal, and this cinches the brake pads up against the rotor so by the time your foot lands on the brake pedal, the brakes are ready for war

Yeah if you really stomp on them it has extremely powerful clamping power. Great brakes IMO.
