Anyone got Mineral White?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
How does it look different from Alpine White? My brother in law is looking at a 2013 M3 and he's read that Mineral White looks a bit more muted in bright light but really shines and looks more brilliant than Alpine White in low light/night time. I just ordered my car in Alpine because on the configurator it looks like the bright colour.

Can anyone confirm a difference based on actual viewing? The dealership where I bought and he is looking currently has a Alpine White X5 and a Mineral White 328 in the showroom and its hard to see any difference.

My wife and I never had a white car because most white colors appear to be half hearted, flat, and approaching "hospital white" segment of the color spectrum.

Mineral white is an amazing color. Highly recommend it if you are open to a white color in general and want something unique. I am waiting for 2013 335i xDrive sedan with mineral white exterior / coral red leather interior.

I've seen a mineral white m3 side by side with alpine. I own and love alpine, it's definitely more vibrant, but the mineral has great depth and looks more luxurious. There are times I wish I had mineral, I don't think you would regret it.

That said, if I was ordering an m3 right now there are some fabulous individual colours, why not push your CA for something even more special; maybe a santorini blue, midnight blue (rare) or if you want to stand out, hellrot red?

Mineral white is a pearl paint while alpine white is a flat white
I went with mineral white because it shines so much brighter than alpine and I had alpine white on my previous 08 335

I have mineral white metallic and it looks great. Under bright sun it looks like alpine white, it is under lower light conditions like dusk and night that the depth of the metallic coat really shine. Perhaps one bad thing, like all multi-coat paints it is hard to color match if you have to do chip repairs etc. if you can live with that it looks great.

It's not for me but I am not sure why he wants mineral white...the colour options are not as good in Canada, so that's one thing. I think the mineral white, because it is metallic, can take on different hues in different lights....and it does have a silvery undertone that comes out at different times.

Any chance you have the black mirror caps? I'd love to see how that looks.

MW get's my vote - if i hadn't had a white car previously (therefore wanted a change) it's what I would have chosen.

I went with Alpine to save the $800 and because I couldn't tell the difference in the showroom. I've since seen some pictures online and you can see a difference depending on the lighting, but I don't think it's enough for me to change the order. I am trying to get black mirror caps added though, but it's no charge so I can't see that being an issue...

At $500 or more depending on country. I would definitely stick to regular Alpine White and save the money for a more useful option...

Well ya for a while I was considering EBII and the trade off was gonna be metallic paint or Extended Bluetooth....so I've ordered extended Bluetooth and I'm happy with that

MW makes the lines of the car "pop" more IMO. Lots of pics in the official thread of the photo sub-forum.

THat's what I noticed too. In some of the pictures, I find the contours are more noticeable in MW, whereas they're a bit more washed out in AW.

THing is, camer settings and monitor settings can have an impact on that. My Macbook and my wife's ipad and our Dell laptop all make the same picture look different.

I have no idea why anyone would spend $ on MW when AW is free.

If BMW is going to get my $ for a paint color, it's going to be for something cool like EB2.

Happy to help you here my challenged friend:
  1. because it looks better
  2. because I like it more
  3. because if that much coin is going to break the bank you might want to consider something other than a BMW.

I never planned on a White car. I was looking for Mineral Grey with Coral Leather.. When I saw the Mineral White w/ Coral, It pops on the F30 Sportline and does not look like a Fleet or Rental Car that comes in Flat White.

IMO
Mineral White is better during the day
It just 'pops'

Alpine White is better at night
Looks too silvery in the wrong lighting

Just my thought.
I chose alpine lol

I also have Mineral White and I get compliments every where I go. I was not sure if I wanted to spend the money on a different sort of white, but I am glad that I did. Like was stated previously, it looks quite nice during dusk or dawn, but I also just love the look as it accentuates the lines of the F30. Alpine white is just like any white car out there. IMO Mineral looks exotic after a fresh wash and wax. Lots of jaws dropping!!

I've seen them both. It's a waste.
