polarized glasses problem

I really hope that BMW finally fixes the polarized glasses problem with their center stack. It's such an annoyance on the current cars and it really should be an easy fix considering that many other car manfacturers are able to work around this issue, I don't see why BMW can resolve this issue for the upcoming F30. Here's to hoping this issue is resolved.

Weird, I don't have this issue with my car while wearing polarized shades.

If you can read your radio, your glasses arent polarized.

Haha, true. Both my polarized Kaenons and Smiths render the radio read out useless.

sorry to say then, but you might have been ripped off because this is a well document complaint from current e90/91/92/93 owners. You may want to take your glasses back from wherever you bought them because if you're not having this issue, then you def don't have polarized glasses.

Maybe he has navi and its not an issue, i dont have navi and the raio display is damn near impossible to read with my perspiration silhouette polarized sunglasses, i have to severely tilt my head to read or it just look above my glass to read it. Sine all cars will have iDrive, i just hope the screen looks good with polarized sunglasses, my iphone 4s looks like shit when i ma wearing my sunglasses.

Let's back up a bit. It's not an issue for him because he has navigation and doesn't have the tiny strip of screen that we do. I have polarized sunglasses and have the same problem (which I fixed using polarized film).

As MassBimmer mentioned, the easiest fix is with polarized film, like the sheets used for making transparencies in copiers. Simply cut one of these sheets to fit the screen and place over it; the radio will then be readable with both polarized and non-polarized lenses.

That's our best solution until BMW addresses it at the manufacturing level.

The new car has a color display even if you don't get nav so the point is moot.

I think they've already resolved the problem. I have the problem on my car, but my kid's 2010 car doesn't.

I could be wrong, though; her car has nav, so I don't know, now that I think about it, that one even looks at areas that are affected by the problem. Sorry for possibly speaking too soon.

The issue doesn't impact the nav screen, only the small info display on cars without the nav screen.

Thanks for confirming that.

Apologies to all for my initially hasty post.

Whilst the all F30s are to have a colour display, which will be unaffected by the issue; there will still be a display for the temperatures and fan settings for the climate control, these appear have a display which is similar or possibly the same as the aforementioned problematic displays. So there could still be a issue especially give the fact that you are more likely to be adjusting the air conditioning on days that you are also wearing your sunglasses!

It's your glasses not the car. I've never had the problem.

Yes my car has Navi so I don't have the radio viewing issues you guys are having. I can read all the LCD displays fine in my car (between the speedo / tach and on the climate control fine)
