I had a 335 e 92 and was going to get f30 328..and then i drove it..while not bad i couldnt imagine driving it...335 is much better in term of sounds and speed but still dosent have that magic feeling like older BMWs had

I did test drive both the 2013 328s and a 335s and came away from the test drive feeling the 328 was fast enough, and for daily driving it is fine. Both cars felt a little big and not as responsive as earlier 3 series models. To me the 3 series seemed to be getting more 5 like with every model. I base this on having owned a lot of BMWs (8 or more) and currently owning 4 3-series cars (2013 328, 2011 335, 2009 328, 2007 335 (this car is a rocket)).

So I will be driving the 328 to work and around town. But on the weekend trips down fun roads (ex. Highway 1 ) I will take the 2011 335 because it is a more fun car. More power, a little nibbler, and better balanced.

Once you tasted the sound and appreciated the deep growl of the I6, there is definitely a sense of step-down when driving a N20 car, even it is faster. A good chunk of the 4-6K$ difference will be recovered at resale anyway.

This is one of the many reasons you should lease. I have a 2013 328xi Sportline with tune, intake, exhaust and it's really fun to drive...no complaints.

But when my lease is up I'm definitely going for the 6 cylinder in 3 or 4 series trim. I'll then have had both engines for 3 years and can see if the 6 is really worth it to me.

Sigh. But only 2.5 yrs left now on my lease!! Great car though. But i need to go back to a teeth rattling gas guzzling stiff car.
