Toyata and Lexus should employ a European (as Kia does) to design their cars.

Now, can this particular Lexus be the strangest and ugliest car around?

I was being sarcastic about 80s golden years. But not hating (ok, maybe a little), I just don't like it at all. And that's just my opinion

I actually love the F30 interior, modern and not over the top. But I guess it really depends on your taste.

Most people are easily wowed by buzzwords and don't have an eye for quality. The salesman says their Lexus has a leather interior and they think "Oh, leather, Lexus has leather, Mercedes has leather, Porsche has leather, they are all equivalent." In reality, even from the same company there is a big difference between, say, Dakota leather and Nappa or Novillo. I agree with you, Lexus' leather feels like cheap vinyl (but I'm not a fan of the leather in my 335is, either)

The Q50 is a much better looking design than the Lexus effort. You are quite right, the side view is very much like the F30. The shut lines on the hood are similar too. Front and back nicely integrated. Interior is good. I could see owning one of these if I didn't have a F30. There is no way I would own the Lexus - it is gross looking at least to my eye! Some very interesting comparison tests coming up in the motoring press. Not worried as I will still prefer my F30 even if the motoring press puts its last. It is all somewhat academic anyway. Cars these days are really all very good - drive what you like. My choice is good and so is yours!

I am way satisfied that many don't like the new IS. There'll just be fewer of them on the roads. What keeps me from a 3 Series, or any other BMW, even Z4, but the same goes for Audi, and even Porsche, is that they are just too common on the road. Too many. There is nothing special, and the competition is so stiff, that all cars are as good. You can't really declare a real winner.

Unfortunately, here in Europe we are not getting the IS 350i only the IS 250i and IS 300h.

I'm reserving judgement on the exterior until I can see a car in person but, as many here suggest, it's a little iffy at the moment. HOWEVER, the interior is simply great IMO. Sporty, you know Lexus will put great material in it and it won't have rattles and squeaks and the dash displays are great. The picture below with the red stitching, carbon fiber and lines is great..

The front looks awkward with too much going on. The side profile and rear looks fine. The interior looks good.

Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but that exterior is awful. However, if the interior looks like the pic and the fit/finish is like the new GS, then it will be great. Still, I hope the performance is not a let-down as usual (drove a 2012 IS 350 and a 2013 GS 350 F)

I do like the interior. However, I just cant get over how ugly the exterior is. It is sad because everytime I see a new GS on the road I comment on how sexy/clean it looks.

I dont really like the IS. The front is ugly as hell and the inside isnt that like as the f30 imo. all i like about the IS is the LFA gauge and the steering wheel. but other then that the center console is ugly to doesnt look as nice as the f30.
I kinda like the infiniti q50 but i dont like the infiniti intouch system.
