Wondering how many F30 owners have rusty seat frame bases or hinges.
Just look under your front seats to check the metal frames are rusty or not.

mine is pretty small so far. but i've only had my car for just over 2 weeks.

I've got a few spots myself...

Have you guys tried to wipe it clean... preventing those spots from developing and spreading...

that could be the shortest resolution...

An excellent idea!
Will wipe over with WD40 on a piece of cloth!

November build here and I just got the car this week. I read they fixed the problem starting with first of November builds. Keeping fingers crossed but clean and shiny as of now.

So, I meet my 335 for the first time here in a few days, and I hope there isn't rust. If so, I'll try the WD40 solution, but if that doesn't work, I'm definitely getting the dealer to replace them.

So what will happen if I take it to my dealer ? Will they change the seat bases free of charge ? What did you guys do ?

December 2011 build no rust whatsoever. Very early build.

Hinges are all rusted. Haven't been able to get a clear view under the seat yet. Will try again and see.

Just checked, nothing here. Biggest issue I had was getting my fat head under to get a glimpse at it

Should have mentioned that I have very light rust spots about 1/8" dia per sq.in. which seem capable of being wiped off with a finger.
Don't really want the hassle of a trip to the Main dealer!

Mine was built mid August so only about 4 months old

^ My rust spots are nothing like that!
I am amazed at this and others I have seen.
I suppose it it due to a combination of heated seats and/or condensation forming at dusk and/or high humidity.
With the correct surface treatment the steel just should not corrode. At least not for some years!

My drivers side has no rust to speak of, but this is what I found on the passenger side.

My hinges look to be good and, reluctantly, I had quick look under the passenger seat. I found only a few little spots so I'm not bothered, but will monitor every few months.

If the hinges start to go, then I'll have to start taking action, but it's looking fairly good for me.

May build at BMW's Regensburg production plant, Germany.
