Using iphone 5 as GPS - No bluetooth connection? - BMW 3-Series Forum (F30 / F32)

Hey guys,

So going from e90 with NAV to the f30, I had to let go of the NAV.
No biggie my SA told me, your iPhone 5 has a great GPS.

Very true when you come to think of it, used it 4 times already and it's dead on.

My concern is:
I cant get it to speak to connect to my Bluetooth in the car...
The phone is connected however, if I get a call, it rings and I talk freely.

Any way to do this?

PS: My friend has a new jetta, and when he uses the GPS on his iPhone 5, it goes through the bluetooth...

I think it probably only works if you have enhanced bluetooth with audio streaming. If it's just the basic bluetooth, it only has the handsfree phone protocol. As a not so great alternative maybe you could use an audio cable from iphone headphone jack to aux in. You would have to always be on the aux input rather than the radio during navigation in order to hear it.

What combox do you have?

You need 6NL or 6NK to get BT streaming.

6NH isn't capable of streaming.

I dont have enhanced BT, I'm sure of it.
Wasnt part of the options he showed me at the stealership!

Long shot, but is it possible to add this?

I dont want a standalone GPS with wires running etc...
Not looking at the map is fine by me, just hearing the chick bossing you around is what I'm looking for!
