OK BJ , we get it, you're jealous of anyone who has a 335

. But I don't get this constant harping on a car being made in Africa. The car was designed by BMW engineers(and believe it or not they aren't all German), its made at a BMW plant and everyone there is trained and goes through the same process any worker in the German plants goes through and in the end the car is still scrutinized for the same BMW quality control.So is there any reason you have so much hate for cars built in Africa? Are the #'s that show there are more problems with a BMW that was built in a different country? I'm serious .I'd really like to know. We live in a global economy. I have a pair of jeans that were made in the US but the denim was made Mexico. Does that mean they are junk because they were stitched in the US or junk cuz the denim was made in Mexico?

I have too much money so I don't care that the 328 is cheaper to buy and cheaper to operate. I'm a label snob so I like that I have a 335i and most everybody else has a 320i or 328i. I want a fast car so that I can trounce all the little modded Honda Civics that try to take me off the line. And I'm absolutely in love with the sound and feel of the inline 6.

That's the same bit I don't get. All this "status symbol" nonsense of a 3 series. It's the tenth biggest selling car in the UK this year. Not the tenth biggest saloon or luxury or anything: the tenth biggest seller of all cars. that is not exclusive. The 3 series is the new Mondeo over here - it's the new Clitoris*. Owning a 3 series does not buy you status. Maybe a well appointed 5 series but not a 3; same goes for an A4 or a Merc C Class.

*Every c\//\t's got one.

Wanting a certain brand hardly makes me think it's a 'status symbol', especially when comparing to other cars on the road locally, but, it's the model I like better than a 5. As you age, life's need change, my wife didn't care for my e46 M3 and definitely hated my 335 e92, yet she loves this new 335 M sport. Go figure. Don't be disappointed with your choice of a 328, it's a smart choice, just not for everyone??

Im on 2000 miles after exactly one month, BUT it´s only a 328i, does that make me qualify for the enthusiast-price?

Indeed. We're paying $70k+ for the same spec you guys are paying $50k for and we don't think it a status symbol. It's just a nice car. My neighbours won't think any more or less of me because of it - in fact, my MPS got more attention because of its rarity and that was only a ten grand car second hand.

Maybe you're a bit too touchy on something as simple as the car you drive. I think that's why they make various models within the lines. It shouldn't be. I optioned for a 330 over a 325 back in the E46 days. If more HP if something to criticize then I'd be the biggest Dbag on the 3 series planet seeing as I also have an e92 M3. Most of my other cars are high HP cars(maybe I'm making up for my small penis ,OR maybe I grew up around big HP cars and I like them).My point is, lumping everyone into one category ,especially because of their nationality, is wrong.Chances are , if you're an a$$hole and you drive a 335 or a 328 , you'd be that same a$$hole if you were driving a Kia Rio. Good for you! But, I didn´t say I meant Americans in general, I meant the Americans with that particular attitude I talked about. Luckily they are a minority.. I didnt post in this thread cause I took offence for anything, it was more like

Despite the popularity of some models, BMWs are still regarded by the masses as a top tier brand. It's an aspirational brand even if you can lease the lowest model for only $350 CAD.

I don't think I'm a better person because of my car. I just enjoy really nice things. And trouncing boy racers who think the big muffler on their Civic will help them.

more HP doesn't always mean FASTER. if you drive slow, you'd still be slow in a ferrari. reality sucks. who cares about driving straight fast - doesn't mean shit if you can't take a turn.

. It just seems like i see a lot of "well you Americans". When truth be told ,although there are cultural differences, most people around the world are the same. Just trying to get through life the best way they know how. As for as the 328 goes, you should be proud of it , its a very nice car.I've gotten that "look" ( y0u know what I mean..the,I'm better then you cuz my car is newer) when I'm out in my E46. I've gotten to the point where i just shake my head and laugh....if they only knew what was home lurking in my garage...but then again who cares
