Trying to Update a Colleagues F30

One of the guys I work with has a 320i Luxury that a month older than my car. I was trying to help him set up his iDrive to display messages from his mobile phone, and when that wouldn't work, I thought I would help him update the car's software, in case that was part of the problem.

We've downloaded the software update from BMW Australia's website, but when I go in to his menu and go to Settings, he doesn't have the same "Software Update" option at the bottom of that menu. Looking at my car, it's right there in the Settings menu and I have already done two updates of my software.

Any ideas as to why this option may not be appearing in my coworkers car?

Does he have extend bt audio? nav pro? etc...

IIRC, whether the system has software update isn't build date dependant, it's what options have been taken out.

need the pro nav. Also he probably hasnt got the updated bluetooth. Check from the build details which one he has. If he doesnt have the right codes, nothing u can do to help (just like my car)

You don't need Pro Nav, but you do need the extended blue tooth I believe.

On my current car I only have Business Nav, but i do have extended bluetooth, and it works on mine

To be honest it is such a pain to use the feature anyway I wouldn't worry about it too much.
