Correct me if I'm wrong but build date is the date when the car has finished building from the factory.

The compliance date is the date the car has been rego in the state?

The build date is the month and year the car rolled off the production line and the compliance date is the month and year the car left the bond store to go to the dealership. It's not the date the vehicle is registered. This is why you will find new unregistered cars on the BMW forecourt that could be a couple of months passed the compliance date.And also why dealers need to move cars off the lot before the new year comes round otherwise they're technically sitting on a year old car.

Ah Ok, which is pretty much what I thought... So I have a question about mine that I will go and seek the answer from the dealership.
I signed up my order with all my options etc in mid July, and was calling daily to add another option which I did this right up to the end of July. In early august I received an email to say my vehicle my vehicle had 'entered' production as of the 5th August 2012.
However just the other day when I was washing it and cleaning the door edges, I saw the build plate saying build July 2012? and a compliance plate on the other door edge saying September 2012. I am just a bit surprised at how my car could of actually of been built before lockdown and I stopped adding accessories?
Any one else noticed anything similar.
