Ouch.......
I was driving down the highway and something ginormous flew off the back of a semi and hit my car. It took off my mirror cover, scratched the hell out of my quarter panel and scratched a small part of my door. Do you think this is something I could fix on my own or do you think the whole panel is going to have to be repainted? Also, do you guys know how much the mirror covers are?
Thank you for any and all help ![]() ![]() Last edited by jpet88; 10-09-2012 at 09:30 PM. |

Looks like its white paint and should buff right out.
It looks like you just need a mirror cap from the picture. I would replace them with the OEM CF ones. Best price I found on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-OEM-M-Pe...9cb5d2&vxp=mtr or you could buy these and repaint them http://www.ebay.com/itm/bmw-328i-sid...67e6e8&vxp=mtr

That sucks. Had a similar event take out my passenger mirror and no other damage. That was just a week into my new F30. Cost ~250 to replace mirror case and painting.

Hopefully front fender and door can be buffed.
If paint work is needed, this will be an expensive job. They'll need to blend door and fender with hood, A pillar, etc to make sure refinish is not noticeable. BTW, I kinda like the transparent mirror cover look. ![]() Good luck.

Looks like the objects paint is on your car and doesnt look like your paint was scratched. Use rubbing compound first. No need to polish and buff and all that. After you use the rubbing compound off and then if there are indeed scratches, then do a polish and buff.
