$2,500 under invoice with the USAA credit would mean that he got it for $1,000 under invoice from a dealer???? I'd have to see the sales receipt on that one. I don't think there is any dealer who would sell this car for that price unless a relative of theirs owns the dealership.

The thing is, I don't really care what other people paid at this point because I'm happy with my deal and I know I'll be happy when my car shows up. In the scheme of things, $1,000 or $1,500 isn't going to change my life one bit. If somebody gets a great deal then more power too them.

I think a lot of people get too caught up in what they paid instead of what they're going to get out of it. Price is only an issue in the absence of value.

hi everyone! i can't start a new thread yet but i'm hoping you can all help.
i'm new here and may be picking up an F30 328 tomorrow morning. I may be trading in my 2003 X5 but a good friend wants to buy it from me.

My credit is good but it dips down dramatically during the month because I have an Amex that I use for work and my bill can get really high sometimes. It affects my credit to debt ratio. I say this because last week my credit score was better than this week and I'm sure the dealer is seeing this weeks number not last weeks.

I haven't heard anything from the SA (he was off today) but earlier the business manager emailed me and said, "Congratualtions..." It was an automated type of an email.
So I guess I'm in the clear as far as the rate I was qouted? I'm suppose to pick up the car in the a.m.

Also, I feel like I may be able to do better especially since most of you are
getting the car at invoice price and I definitely did not.

Maybe because I'm a woman?

Residual is not negotiable...it's 65% for 10k/year.

The $2k off does not seem like a great deal. Use BMWconfig.com to build your exact car, then find out the invoice price. Most people (Before promotions) are getting $500-1000 over invoice. Then if you are eligible for any promotions (should be eligible for $750 loyalty cash I believe) that comes off that price.

That lease deal sounds high, especially with taxes up front (which should be included in your $5k drive off), but I'm not sure what your local tax rate is and if $5k is only going to cap cost reduction.

Find your invoice price, find out how much they are charging you in fees (my first dealer tacked on an extra $200 on the bank fee and insisted he couldn't change it...I left and never went back)

Learn what the numbers all mean and then be vigilant to make sure they're actually giving you the right deal. It's easy for them to disguise a low monthly payment with a high cash amount up front.

I actually found my dealer "magically" added an extra $150 onto my sale price in between the time when I ordered the car and time when I purchased it (they redid the paperwork due to me adding on the M performance grills, but were still $150 too high). If it wasn't for me whipping out the calculator I would've easily just signed the papers and not noticed.

Ok after doing some light research and using yahoo's calculator for lease payment:

It comes up with this, assuming 63% residual on MSRP of 48,345

and 500 over invoice which would be from bmwconfig.com 45,185

The new lease terms without acquisition fee and title and registration included would be $413 + tax.

This is without MSD.

So thank you very much, now I know what I should be shooting for.

That is not a very good price. And regarding your credit score, your commercial FICO score isn't necessarily indicative of the scoring used for automotive purchases/leases. The use a totally different model.

Regarding pricing, you treat a lease negotiation just like a purchase. As mentioned earlier, build the exact car on BMWConfig.com to see what invoice is. It also has a nice financial calculator that allows you to play with the numbers. The current base money factor is 0.00135. They've got a pretty healthy mark-up on the number you quoted. 1 to 1.5 points is more reasonable. A major issue in PA is the damn 9% tax rate on leases (paid monthly). It's robbery, but it exacerbates the issue if you don't get the base numbers down as low as you possibly can.

On a 328i, I'd definitely try to drive it closer to $500 over invoice. There are plenty of them out there.

Also, if you have a friend who wants to buy your car, see if the dealer will do a "courtesy trade" so you can reap the benefit of the tax savings you'd realize had you traded the car in.

Thank you! We did discuss a courtesy trade but I didn't sound like I was reaping any benefits at all. How does that work exactly. I did bmwconfig and it seems that I may be around $500 above invoice? Unless I plugged too many options in.

You should end up with exactly the same MSRP in BMWConfig. You may be right about the courtesy trade since you're leasing.

Also, if you use the BMWConfig lease calculator, take note that you need to change the default values for MF, residual, etc. to YOUR numbers in order to get an accurate monthly. It also automatically assumes 7 additional MSDs and a down payment if I remember correctly.

Seems like a much better deal, but consider how much you're putting down up front for the cap cost reduction. Lower monthly payments are nice, and you'll save a bit in interest, but if a school bus plows into the car tomorrow you'll effectively lose all the cash you put into it. I only ended up putting down ~$1800 at signing to cover the fees and first month payment.

Is that price without MSD's? You would be better off putting that extra cash into MSD's rather than a cap cost reduction.

There's a substantial savings going with ED. But you have to physically go to Munich to take delivery.
