echo in the radio...

I have a weird problem with my radio reception - I occasionally get something that sounds like a warble or echo. I have the standard (US) radio (not HK) on a 335xi. I mostly listen to NPR broadcast from a local radio station (not Sirius). The echo is very noticeable but doesn't occur that often (a few times an hour?).

I'm taking it into the dealer in a few weeks to get the MPPK installed and will ask about this but I'm worried they won't be able to hear it since it doesn't happen to often.

Has anyone experienced something like this or has any suggestions/ideas?

Thanks.

Try turning off HD Radio in the iDrive settings.

Ah, interesting. Hadn't thought about that. I'll let you know if that fixes it. Thanks!

I have previously noticed some posts saying that if a channel has an HD counterpart and it goes it and out of HD, that echo effcts can be noticed, so hopefully that is our problem.

It is in the settings for the radio. Try hitting radion button and make sure that a list of radion stations is showing on the screen (not presets). Then hit option button. You should see the attached screen with the option to disable HD.

Thanks. I just tried it and it seems to help.

One annoying thing is that it seems to turn HD radio on and off for all channels - it would be nice if you could select it on a channel by channel basis.
