M Performance Rocker Panel Film

Last night I ordered the matte black film strips for the m sport side skirts as part of the m performance kit off www.getbmwparts.com and was hoping someone may have installed these. I originally didn't think it was just a decal kit and now I'm wondering how easy of an install it is. Think it requires professional installation?

Install is fairly straight forward, the vinyl is extremely thick and high quality so bubbles and wrinkles dont really factor into the equation

Thanks for the input I received them today and they do seem high quality and thick. I'm going to attempt a self install and hope for the best. With a clean surface and taking my time I imagine I'll be ok.

Make sure you anchor one side and keep track of the angle that the vinyl is going on as it is easy for it to start sloping down or up if you're not paying attention. I had to pull one side up about 3/4 of the way and re-align.

I'm getting ready to order the Rocker Panels. I see on the website mention of Film Strips. Do you need to order those as well or does the kit already come with the adhesive needed to install? Thanks!

I was able to install the m performance side stickers using the wet method. Just spray on both the vinyl sticker and side rocker panel surface the installation solution to temporarily neutralize the adhesive. This gave me the chance to reposition the sticker and make adjustments on the alignment. 30-minute job for me on each side.

Yea it comes like that meant to be painted actually but I think the flat look is perfect so it works out great really.

Helpful thread! The the front lip bolt up using factory mount points? Also, how much did you pay for the rocker panel blades and the M Performance vinyl? I can't seem to find the part number for the panel blades.

Film (side foils) and rocker panels are both for m sport

As for me, the rocker panel seems to be a nice touch, but not nice enough to spend money on

The rocker is 51192291404 $280 for both

vinyl is 51192240983 $214 for both

I'm also hoping someone can tell me if the rocker panels are DIY. Anyone put them on themselves?

is the //M performance sticker separate from the black vinyl?or is it just one sticker?
I prefer it without the M performance logo on the sides..is it possible?

no, the m-performance is printed on in the OEM

your option would be to either:
plastidip it (one forumer did this)
or
buy the fake from ebay as they are two piece (vinyl + sticker). note that ebay option is thin generic vinyl compared to the Thick OEM.

What solution did you use?
I'm assuming this is essentially the same method used to put on Lamin-X film on lights?
