My tenth BMW, not a F30....
![]() Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Here is the small story to begin with: http://f20.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=769067 And what I did: http://f20.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=769373 This one looks like the car I ordered: ![]() I can't wait to collect it. The F30 is a looker, the M135i isn't, but it sure feels already like coming home. Strange but true. The F30 has grown too much(I had a 120d Mk1 for half a year back in '04, great car minus the asthmatic small diesel engine) , but I just need, apart from just a daily drive, something like a toy for tossing around...This could be it. To each his own, since the launch I've never liked any of the 1series.
It just looks like 'half a car' to me (same feelings for an A3) Anyways have fun with your new toy, and come to m'tricht with it (to buy me a beer) so I can see your old baby before it leaves |

Some perspective:
The current F30 is larger in almost every dimension than the first 7 series BMW ever made. The current F30 is about the same size as the 5 series from a couple generations ago. The current F20 1 series is only slightly smaller than the E30 3 series. I get what you mean by coming home. The F30 is a BIG car. The current F10 5 series is a BOAT! Congrats on your new toy. I am sure it will deliver some good times and big grins. Still looks ugly. ![]()

I can understand where you are coming from... My previous car was a 528i, and I felt like it was too big do have fun driving... By American car standards though, the 328i still feels like a small car...

IMO, the F30 is not "about the same size"as E39.

The F10 is a big car (yes huge, but then there is the massive 7..), the f30 is just big-er... Personally, I don't mind the 3 growing only because I'm getting older, and because the 5 has gotten too big and to uninspiring performance/handling wise). Somewhere in between the E90 and F10 would suit me right at this point in my life, married with small kids, and the F30 is now just that. I had an E46 when I was 23. At 36 I'll have an F30 and they are completely different 3's, (including a $20k bump in price tag), but that is just fine by me. |

This is because of my problems with my current F30 335i, otherwise I wouldn't have swapped it. Though the 335i also is a boat compared to the car I ordered....So I benefit from this deal as well. Maastricht is about 2 hours driving , very nice city, but hey when I'm there I'd probably drive to the Nürburgring in a heartbeat , so close. LOL It's uglier, but it's much faster irl and on a track it's one of EVO's favourite cars as Drivenby F30 already posted. Braking distances are Porsche like. Etc etc. It's BMWs bargain of the Century overhere if you're a driving enthousiast like I always was, but forgotten because wife/kids/stuff. I'm planning to do trackdays again at Zandvoort/Assen, Papenburg Germany, Nordschleife just in the old days with my 330i/M3s... The F30 is a very good car but tbh on a track it's out of place. A M135i isn't exactly a Boxster or Lotus either but it isn't out of place on a track. Now the waiting begins. 3 months.... ![]() Cheers Robin |

Congrats robin. The m135 should be a lot of fun. The f20 is growing on me, like most bmw designs.
I'm keen to see what the upcoming 2 series looks like. I think I could be tempted into a m235 if it ever eventuates. Still loving my f30 at the moment though.

what i meant by wind and noise is not in general.
When the front passenger opens the window, the back passengers will get ALOT of wind because of the huge window ![]() this is not something related to bmw, it was a comment to 3 door small cars in general. AND DAMMIT I need to drive your 335 before you turn it in!!!!! |
