Is my car's software most updated?
I used my iDrive to check the software version and its the following:
MX-003-004-031 TX-003-004-031 Its a 335i xdrive When I check the BMW site with my VIN, it shows 4 available updates, including, UPD01006. Does that mean my software is not at the latest version? thanks |

Download the image and copy it to a USB flash drive. Then put it in the armrest USB plug and update the software. The update screen shows you the current and "new" software versions. It only takes about a minute to update. |

Will I lose the codings done to the car if the software is updated? I had the Dealer do the ASS remember last setting prior to picking up the car. Would hate to lose that when doing this update.

No, you are safe to upgrade. If dealer did ASS coding, then that's permanent. BMWNA issues a code which is inputted by dealer and now becomes part of your vehicle order. You get ASS-Remember last setting regardless of what type of software upgrade your car gets.

It has nothing to do with the coding the dealer did. That should be permanent. |

Depending on how old your firmware is, it will enable text messaging with no workaround necessary. Both for cars with Office in iDrive, BMW Assist w/Enhanced USB & Bluetooth option. |

Now do I need to install all the updates or just the last one? There was 4 on the BMW site for my VIN. |

I updated the software to the 1006 version no problems. But it didn't do anything to help my issue with receiving messages with my Blackberry 9900.
Didn't notice anything different with the entertainment system either. |

Have you confirmed your BlackBerry is set up correctly? You need to go into the bluetooth connections on your BlackBerry and then select MAP Options and then tick all the boxes for each of your email accounts in order to receive messages in the car.

Well the BB if not linked to the car, the email notification has a red x through the box, but when the bluetooth is linked to the car, it comes a green checkmark, along with all the other email accounts. Tried turning encryption on and off, makes no difference. |
