DE-BADGING - BMW 3-Series Forum (F30 / F32)

looking to remove the 328i logo on my car. Anybody done this already or have a DIY link to this? i have the base model and it has too much chrome already imo. i know it can just peel off then remove the glue with goo-gone stuff found at auto zone or walmart.. but is there an easier method so that it will just come off nice n clean without making a mess? thanks.

Use a hair dryer to soften the adhesive...then use goo-b-gone to get rid of the residue. Takes a while and you will use some elbow grease. :-)

Hair dryer plus dental floss to cleanly wiggle the badges off while leaving less residue. The remaining residue comes off nice with a cleaner wax.

I wouldn't use goo gone or anything like it, can eat away at the paint. I haven't removed any emblems but heard that the hairdryer and dental floss is the best for minimum residue and you should then be able to use a cleaner wax as mentioned above. If its plastic or glass then goo gone is fine.

^ Just did this last night as I have on my previous 4 rides. No residue left over with a quick goo gone wipe down.

(Except I used sun instead of a hair dryer)

@ gerbs thats what I was thinking.. waiting for a hot sunny day around noon to start on this.. will resort to the hair dryer if I have to but for now just real picky on using it.

+1 on using the Sun, haha. Nice hot summer day and they were surprisingly easy to take off!

Interesting fact - De-badging is a dealer option

Even a mildly warm day is sufficient for new cars.

Pull the Dental floss down and wiggle until it cuts through. Any left over residue can be worked off with your finger.

Grab a microfiber and your favorite wax/polish apply and admire your new rear.

Your dealer let you debadge? my dealer said option 320 is not for the states

I'm surprised a dealer would reject that request, especially if it was to help close a sale! I haven't personally but have heard of others having it performed around my area.

Yea, unfortunately it is currently not available for the F30.

De-badged my 328i yesterday. Hot sun and dental floss was all I needed, the glue residue came off with a couple of gentle wipes with my finger, no need for goo gone or polish at all.
