Anyone know whether the Heads Up Display affects a radar detector's functionality ... or whether the special glass on the windshield (w/ HUD) affects functionality???

No issue. The Corvette has had HUD since the late '90's with no impact on detectors. I find no issue with the F30 either.

The panel/inlay is just in the area where the image is viewed, although it has no impact on radar in any event.

HUDs dont need to use special glass. just stick a piece of white paper on the dash of an ordinary car on a sunny day. when you look forward, you will see the image of a big white block on the windshield. only really fancy bit with the HUD is that they screen in the dash isnt a standard rectangle screen like most consumer products. they had to adjust the shape to counteract the curve in the windshield glass.

Nope , I have a valentine + HUD

No issues

The one thing that has been starting to annoy me is the new luxury cars that have blind spot etc

Makes my valentine go haywire
