Colored lights, on the other hand, are illegal in every state because of DOT laws.

The gap around the reflector replacement is different than the gap around the headlight washer and tow hook cover.
That would bother me. It doesn't look stock. |

Hey guys thanks for the compliments!
-> **********s.com is where the parts came from... thanks again guys for the quick shipping and great $ -> The spacing thing kind of threw me at first but if you look at the car from 30 ft or more its almost like there isn't even a seem there so it looks perfect. Im about as OCD as they come with body gaps and things so I understand completely, but it really hasn't bothered me as much as you would think. as good as it looks with these on, the springs and tint will finish it off.

Getting Euro spec m-bumper installed
It looks much better without the reflectors. I bought a US Spec F30 335i here in Germany. The German BMW dealership is going to install the euro spec bumper for me which comes without any reflectors. I've been wanting to get it done since I took delivery and I feel that I'll never be satisfied until I get it done.

While I agree they look better than the reflectors, I think you are taking a risk removing them. And I mean more than just getting a ticket. If you were ever in an accident in which visibility of your vehicle was an issue, you would get sued or perhaps more importantly you would hurt your chances of enforcing your claim. Exhibit one would be this illegal mod.

...Wet Blanket much? I would also just like to point out that the headlight reflection and side marker are still visible so the reflector is not nearly as important. Only in America do we even have any laws around reflectors (EU doesn't even have them on their cars) and I promise you that the reflector is not going to get you sued in any normal circumstance. You can always rain on someone else's parade...

I don't mean to rain on anybodiy's parade, just pointing out that there are risks in overriding legally mandated safety features. I don't disagree that that risk might be small. But I would check with your insurance company if your coverage has any exceptions for disabling any safety features of vehicle.

Wow that looks really good. Can anyone confirm if it is illegal to change the reflectors? I'm an insurance and the claims department says that it's a case by case basis, so they can't tell me yes or no.

Good luck and I know this wasn't an explicit answer of yes or no but hopefully it at least gave you a better idea of if it would be worth it.
