Lifting wiper arms?
Alright, dumb question - is there a trick to lifting the wiper arms without rubbing against the edge of the hood? Is it just my car?

I've never had to even consider reading a manual to figure out wiper arms before!

2nd that. who reads a manual to lift the wiper blades? not to mention the detail guy at the dealer scratched the inside of the hood because he tried to lift them... too complicated IMO

It's definitely way more complicated than it should be and you can cause damage if you do it wrong! Yikes!

Haven't wipers been like that in almost all cars of the last decade ? There's always been a maintenance switch/procedure to raise them... even if it just involved starting the wiper and cutting the ignition when they were up.

Don't know about the US, but in europe most car manufacturers have been hiding wiper arms/blades for the last 5-10 years.
But as others have said before me, if it doesn't go as easy as it should, don't try and force it, just look in the manual, it's there for a reason .I'm sorry but the police/cop would just here from my lawyer. You can't be reckless, even if you are a cop |

I haven't tried lifting my wiper blades... but I did come accros the procedure when I was reading the manual and I thought It was hard to follow/understand also... Not explained clearly I think... Yea other cars in the past might have been designed same way... but some people never owned a car that had wiper blades like this... So that dosnt justify anything IMO. Manual is not clear about many other things as well. if they had a dedicated button to service wipers that would be much better.

Come on guys! It's not rocket science!
However, before I'm berated for being a clever clogs don't try and do what I did on my brand new '06 A3 with these wipers. Move wipers to 'service' position >> raise wipers >> wash car >> decide car needs moving a little >> leave wipers where they are >> twang! >> wiper blades now the other side of the driveway and couple of nice chips on the bonnet edge >> swear loudly. |

Really? My 2011 A4 required going through the infotainment system settings to flip Service Position -> On.
