I know the new 3 Series wagon is a fairly conservative design, but alongside that A4 Avant it's positively flashy!
Perhaps they came up with a really nice design for the Audi and sculpted it in ice, then let the ice melt for a few hours and went with what was left? ![]()

Im gonna have to disagree - that Audi looks reaaaaaly nice compared to the F31, except maybe the taillights (but that's it).

Both are exceedingly good-looking cars, though I think I prefer the nose of the A4 to the nose of the 3er (even though I happen to like the new headlight design on the 3er, I think the A4 tops it). Both with awesome brown leather interiors, though I prefer the darker one in the Audi -- and on the BMW to get anything other than black or puke beige, you have to get the Luxury line -- LAME.
They've discontinued the A4 avant in the US in favor of the A4 allroad, and the comparison's irrelevant to me now, since neither car will be offered with a manual transmission in the US. Thanks for the comparo! |

I really like both, but I would give the slight edge to the A4. Especially interior layout.

For me BMW's side windows are bit too big. Audi is bit better from this point. If I remember correctly, then BMW claimed that they made greenhouse bigger for more light or better view or something (which I do not like). Other than that BMW looks better to me. That is why I am waiting for one.

No, I'm right there with you...both are great looking (for a wagon) but I also prefer the Avant over the F31.

The F31 looks great but the chrome around the side windows is way too heavy in the back. That said, it's still the ONLY AWD sport wagon choice because you can't get a manual transmission in the Avant. The manual Audi in the photo must be European because they offer only slushboxes in the USA. Who would want a slushbox Audi?? BORING! Give me a 6MT 335i x-drive F31 or nothing.

F31. The Audi isn't bad, it's just plain/vanilla looking but that's just Audi being Audi. If you don't compared them side-by-side, the Audi would probably get more favourable comments by putting it beside the F31 which has much more aggressive lines, it's not that close unless you're into subtle looks.
Also, by comparing them side-by-side, you start to really notice how everything in the cabin is much more driver orientated - controls are higher, being close to eye-level as possible. I love that. |

Good luck in the US! In fact you can't even get the refreshed A4 Avant shown, we're stuck with the silly Allroad now, which is also slushbox only like the F31. I won't be buying either one, but do prefer the M Sport F31 very slightly, but the non M Sport is pretty naff.

I prefer the Avant. Though that F31 is really nice, comparing it to the Avant only illuminates how perfectly crafted the Audi is. Though I'm biased because I recently picked up a CPO B8 A4, it does drive and feel much more solid than the F30s I tested. It also helps that I have a NA engine
