I need that wrap...I bet if I put that on my car and drove around LA, I'd have a jillion cars chasing me.
Add LED strips and M logos everywhere, and we're in business!

Front end does look low. Overall I like the new direction with the F30 but sometimes when I see it I think the the front end looks too low compared to the rest of the car and I think the grilles stick out too much. However, I will reserve judgement till I see official pics of the 4 series coupe. I remember seeing E92 spypics and thinking it looked too long.

I dont know if it s just the camo, but this thing looks freakin big. Do you think it will ride on the same 110.6"
Wheelbase as the f30, or will it be shortened to 108" or so? I know the a5 rides on a 2" shorter wheelbase compared to the a4, and the 6er is 4" shorter than the f10.

But I think it's also a bit lower than production vehicles will be. The kidney grills/look of the nose reminds me of the i8 concept & z4. Howow |

I'm curious to see how this car looks. The E46 seems about as big as BMW could go with the coupe still looking kind of good, and even that had pretty big doors and a huge slab of metal where the rear door should go. The E92 definitely stepped over the line.. and I can't imagine how the F32 could look well proportioned, assuming the wheelbase gets longer over the E92. The 6 series is in a kind of different world of no longer being a 'large coupe' but being more of a GT car with a vestigal backseat. Not to say you couldn't be comfortable in it once installed, but the 3(4?) series coupes have always had very usable backseats even in the coupes. The access required to get people back in there has made the doors huge.. not sure how long this trend can go on. (on the other hand, there are plenty of SMALL coupes that also have the horrible slab-of-metal-where-there-should-be-a-rear-door look.. think Scion tC, and on the slightly larger end, the G35/G37, accord coupe, etc, all fail to pull off this look). I'm thinking the ever-increasing beltline only adds to the problem. |

Audi has the same or similar data. It's not a matter of one company copying the other; more a matter of both companies fully understanding their market and responding in the way they think is best. The fact that they reach the same conclusion is a reflection of the fact that they both have very efficient product research functions.

From the OP:
"There have also been rumors that perhaps the F32's introduction will be an occasion for BMW to introduce a successor engine to the current 6-cyl N55 engine powering the F30, but that's purely rumor for now." Does anyone know where these rumors are from? Some links? I've been looking for news about an N55 replacement. There isn't enough differentiation between the 245hp / 260tq 28i and the 300hp/300tq 35i. Plus some of BMW's competitors are getting away from them in power. Audi S4, G37, this years new Jaguar s/c V6, rumored new mercedes x350 engine with forced induction, all have or will have closer to 330-340hp. Plus 2.0L 4 cylinder engine makes 260tq... add 50% for 50% more displacement and cylinders and you're at 390 lb ft. Yes obviously it doesn't work that way and the single turbocharger can't provide 50% more boost while still being as responsive, but the I6 should be able to rev higher to produce pretty close to 50% more horsepower than the I4 even if they can't quite produce 50% more torque... if they wanted to produce such an engine. |

If the rumors are true that BMW will produce a 4er Gran Coupe, they will definitely need to differentiate that from the 3er sedan with a higher quality more 'special' interior, hopefully that becomes part of the new 4er Coupe/Convertible brand as well. |
