DIY - BMS Short Throw Clutch Stop Install
Do It Yourself BMS Short Throw Clutch Stop Install.
Parts Needed: BMS Short Throw Clutch Stop Tools Required: 1 hand with 4 fingers and a thumb I dont know why BMW did not release the car with this originally! A lot better clutch feel. 1. We will be working upside down by the pedals so push the seats as far back as possible and lay your back on the carpet or you can do it blind with your hand alone and just feel around. 2. Insert hand up and behind clutch pedal. Feel for clutch stop and pull out. 3. Grab clutch stop and insert here. 4. Congrats you have just installed your new clutch stop....Now go have some fun!!! Here is from stock to BMS to Ebay

Nice work. Pardon my ignorance, but is the clutch stop just friction fit in place?

Good job ric, taking pics of the install seems harder than the install itself lol.

Shortens the distance by about 30%. I would say its a little before point on engagement.
Its really great, the other day I was driving I would just kick the clutch and shift makes it really quick and easy. Probably shift faster than AT now ![]()

Installed with 2 spacers removed. I figure I want to see how one spacer feels for a while before doing anything else (seems to be a big difference from stock with just one spacer).

OK. I have had the car for a while and just swapped in another spacer so I now have 2 spacers instead of the 3 it came with. Feels very good and I think I am going to leave it like this.
If anyone has the manual transmission, then I believe I am not exagerating when I say this mod is an absolute must have in my book. Very thankful to the OP for bringing it to my attention. Best $10 I have ever spent and best bang for your buck car mod in existence, period.

Hey, from the instructions and on-line materials BMS makes available, I understood that while they recommend to use all three spacers for most applications as I think they put it, you could do what you feel comfortable with. When I compared the stock part and the BMS, I decided there was such a difference that even installing with no spacers the BMS would be a world away from what came factory installed. So I started small and just kept adding until it "felt" right to me. YMMV.
