Don't know if you can do it with a lease, I own mine, but I doubt it on a lease. You're def putting more wear on the car compared to stock and that wouldn't be fair to future owners....The thing about BMW acknowledging the tune is that they will work on your car with a Dinan product in it. Dinan takes over the warranty. If anything goes wrong under the new Dinan warranty, the two companies will figure out if it is BMW or dinans fault, and work it out on who pays. For example If its a Dinan error, BMW will do the work in their shop and Dinan will pay... That's if it isn't clearly driver error(ie blowing motor). Regardless bmw is doing the work. You get to keep your maintenance plan and all. Most dinan shops are at bmw dealerships, it is a partner company to BMWUSA. If you buy a jb4 and all those others, BMW won't even bring the car into their shop. They will flat out tell you they don't want to touch it, like it's a tainted good... Unless you go through the hassle of hiding it, some people enjoy it. With a Dinan tune, even after warranty is up BMW will still work on your car(not for free of course). If you go with a jb4 after warranty they will still tell you to get the hell out of there....

Well, to begin with, Hartge GmbH has been tuning BMW's for over 40 years. Also, they do thorough automobile tuning including engine, suspension, interior, wheels and aerodynamics that go on to form a Hartge model car with its own model designation. They may not be considered a "Car Manufacturer" like Alpina, but they are on a different level to all other BMW tuners with the exception of AC Schnitzer. The amount of research and development that a company like Hartge can do is hard to match. Also, I am pretty sure that Hartge has a relationship with BMW that is more collaborative. The fact that they are German and located in Germany also gives them and advantage.

What I say above does not mean I don't have respect for Burger Tuning, in fact, I may buy their Tune module as soon as they clear some of the issues the JB3 may be having on the F10, but I also see the value in large companies putting the capital to do research and provide service and warranties that smaller companies may never be able to provide.

I see now. I am familiar with Alpina and AC Schnitzer. But honestly I had not heard of Hartge. My first impression when I saw the post was that Hartge was a European version of Burger/Vishnu. Points above well taken.

All else equal, I guess I still see Burger as the better value for a piggy back tune only, despite its "drag racing" focus. I appreciate wide adoption of the product and community of enthusiasts that share information. I think this is conducive to development that yields products that meet average BMW enthusiast demand. I don't doubt Hartge has a more sophisticated and stroried approach to their tuning and thats fine for those that want that type of tune and other modifications they offer.

You are lucky to have an option. For those of us with non 3 series nobody gives a shiet about us since they don't believe we are worth investing time and money on. Support for the 3 series is top priority and so are any issues that may arise. For everyone else...its just a waiting game for compatibility and support unfortunately.

This is where this Hartge piggyback could be a good option.

I get it, its a graph and I can easily pinpoint the deltas and whats relevant, but this format is totally unnecessary. Uno(?).. given the much more international and easily readable 5250 x0ver "dyno" format.

Honestly, just give a good reason not to(?) & i'd probably sleep better at night. Again, not that it overly matters, but just sayin! As I have been reading German mags since the early 80's. Almost seems as it's purposeful some times.(?)

Wow your the first unit of measurement bigot I've ever come across.

The world doesnt revolve around Imperial units. It may be a surprise to you that much of the world uses metric units.

AFAIK, there is no Dinan software currently available for the F30.

The F30 has been out for all of about 6 months and Hartge has a piggy back tune for it, one that the owner can buy and install himself. And, if BMW updates the DME, no big deal. The tune wtill performs.

Conversely, your and my N55 (E92), which has been out for 2+ years (a lot longer than the F30), requires us to remove the ECU, mail to Hartge, let them tune it, then reinstall it once they ship it back. Then, if BMW updates the DME, we are screwed.

My point is that our N55s don't have many options for tunes that we can apply. And it seems BS that Hartge built something for a car that was out for only 6 months when they didn't for a car that has been out for 2+ years...

Obviously, but can u defend the format of that graph? (The units of measurement don't matter as much as the improper scaling)
