Any way to get Sirius radio without ordering the premium package?

I don't see it as a separate option, and it looks like the only way to get it is with the premium package.

Anyone know if there's a way to get it as a dealer option without having to buy the module and have someone install it after the fact?

Not sure about the 2013's - look here -
http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=691811

...but with the '12 you could get it with the HK (premium sound) option or as a standalone - that's what I got, a $350 option.

That doesn't appear to be an option now like it was before.

People are saying that all the cars get the module now. It would just be a matter of getting the coding done and paying for the service.

I've seen that it comes with the sharkfin to get the reception and wiring, but not the module. Where did you see this?

Im sure all the details are not there yet because the HK system pretty much cost the same. It must be coming with Sirius or did the HK system get better?

I asked about this myself and was told that with MY09 or 10 all cars have the module.

It is a dealer installed option.

I just asked this question at the Olympic drive event. Basically it is a dealer installed option that you can order to be installed at delivery or any time afterwards. I was quoted $350 which includes a one year subscription.

Contact Sirius directly (WWW) and order a different package.

I think you still need to have BMW activate it or install something first; you can't just activate it via Sirius. I could be wrong, though. Anyone else have updates from a CA?

This place will sell you a code for activating Sirius and includes 1 year of service for $276.
http://www.bimmer-tech.net/index.php...ive-retrofits/

Quote:
This retrofit will enable SIRIUS Satellite Radio in 2010+ BMW vehicles with the Satellite Radio Preparation option (SA693). Purchase of SIRIUS Satelite Radio Retrofit includes a one-year subscription to the SIRIUS Everything Package plus the Best of XM.

The activation is performed over the Internet and does not require any additional parts to be installed in the car.
edit: My 2012 335i with Premium & base stereo includes this option code and I believe it is standard for US cars.

It looks like that link you sent includes some sort of module that still needs to be installed?

So at the end of the day, I guess I'm looking for the answer to, does the car come with all the hardware necessary for Satellite radio even if I don't order it with the premium package, and if it doesn't, is the roughly $350 the dealership might charge from the above suggestion everything, including 1 year of satellite radio, and any hardware + installation?

You should already have the HW installed.
Check your build sheet for the satellite radio prep option 693...

EDIT: easier way to get the data: http://www.bmwvin.com/

Quote:
To do a VIN BUILD SHEET look up -
  • http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/acc...catalogue.html
  • Click on electronic parts catalog on the lower right.
    Quote:
    U: eu111111
    P: bmwetk1
  • Enter the last 7 digits of the VIN
  • Then click "Options" in the title row at the top of the page.
  • From here, you can check all the option codes on your vehicle
  • When you hit print you get your paint color etc. as well, although not on the initial page, not until the "Print" version opens.

Dealer quoted me 375 for the Sirius radio but then another 125 or so for installation to do it at the dealership as an add on. Bmwusa website shows it as a 375 dollar standalone option under the accessories category when building the car. So I'm a bit confused as to whether or not ordering it through bmwusa requires a dealer install charge.

The dealer may charge $125 for hooking up to their computer to enable.

But, I am pretty sure all US F30's cars have the Sat Radio prep (option 693). If you can confirm that, then you can use the link I provided above to get it enabled and 1 year or service for ~$272.
