Msport trim need pics, please!

I'm set to order my Msport, and as soon as my dealer gets an allocation, I'm in.

The problem is that I just saw the hexagon aluminum trim option for the Msport, in a 5 series.
It looks to be the same stuff, and I'm underwhelmed with it. It looks cheap and plasticky. The aluminum and pattern are underneath a thick layer of clear coat/plastic. The coating is what gives the trim a plastic optical quality. It looks NOTHING like aluminum, nor feels like it either.

In the US brushed aluminum is not available in the Msport, but it is an option in most other parts of the world. I don't get that at all.
I'm REALLY hoping that once we get into the ordering system, there will be an option for brushed aluminum or maybe anthracite or something else.

The only other official trim option to hexagon aluminum is dark walnut.

Does anyone have any picts of dark walnut with black leather interior? If so, please post.

Also, if someone has dark walnut with red leather interior, please post those picts as well.

I'm really really disappointed in the lack of trim options for the Msport.

I'd go sport line, but I want and need a thicker steering wheel. So, given the $1500 more to get the whole Msport package, it's a good deal, and I get the wheel.
I have a nice thick M wheel in my 135i and it feels much nicer than the standard wheel in the sport line.

Thanks for any picts posted. It will be very helpful.

Really??? I was going to get it w/ the aluminum hexagon... looks good in the pics. Not a fan of the basic aluminum. I actually think that looks cheap. Also think the dark walnut looks like an old man car. Wish they would offer anthracite, piano finish or carbon fiber.

I found this online (Dark Burl Walnut w/ black interior on an E90 M-Sport:

FWIW, I have the Dark Burl Walnut trim with Gray Dakota leather on my E90 M-Sport and it looks really out of place. I'm going with the Aluminum Hexagon trim w/ Estoril Blue accents in my F30 M-Sport.

The main thing is to have choices, especially when people decide to order and wait for their car in the way they want it.

Some people will like the hexagon aluminum, some won't.
Some people prefer wood in their car, some don't.

When I got my 135i, there was a patterned aluminum trim option. I thought it might be cool until I actually saw it in person.
I opted for back poplar, and it looks very nice with my red interior.
No comments about it looking like an "old mans" car.

Just curious, have you seen and felt the hexagon trim?

It really is about personal preference.
BMW is ticking me off with the serious lack of choices with interiors with this "line" business.
Simply makes no sense, none.

Thanks for the pict.
It doesn't look very "dark" at all.
I was hoping it was actually "DARK".

Seeing that pict, WTF is BMW thinking offering that in an M SPORT!?

You may love it.
If you like it in picts, then you'll probably like it.
I didn't like the picts, and was hoping it would be nicer in person.
It's ok, I can learn to live with it.

BTW, you said something about the "basic aluminum" trim.
I think you may have been referring the trim in the base 3?
That looks like painted aluminum color .
It's not the brushed aluminum I was talking about.
Looks completely different.

That does look aluminum painted.

Isn't the Brushed Alumium the same Alulinum avaliable on the base Sport???

The more I see it in picts, the more I like the anthracite wood.
It very much reminds me of my black poplar.
Looks great with red leather.

Wait.

What do you mean by "base" sport?
There is the "base" 3, and there is the "sport line".
The trims in those 2 are NOT the same.
The "base" 3 looks like painted aluminum color.
The "sport line" has a brushed aluminum trim option.

Sport line has gloss black or brushed, and accent in red, or gloss black.

The "base" 328i has no trim option, just the full face silver/alum trim, with no accent.
The "base" 335i has no trim option, it's has a med stain wood-looking trim, silver accent.
The wood in the base 335i doesn't look like real wood. If you look at the pict on BMW's site, look at the grain, it repeats. Real wood doesn't do that.

You need the M-sport package because you want a steering wheel?

Why not just get the sport, pay the 800 bucks to get an M steering wheel and then sell it when you want to get rid of the car... It will have a better ROI (return on investment) than the M-sport package AND you get everything you want

...I don't get it, I love the sport wheel over almost any other brand's wheel and yet all anyone on this site does is rag on it...

Doesn't suit an M Sport IMO

Eye roll? Really?
I corrected my comment to make it clearer.
ASSumptions.

NO, I'm not getting the Msport ONLY for the steering wheel.
The M wheel is one of the more important pieces to me.
I like the whole body kit.

Why pay $800 for just the wheel, when the Msport package is only $1500 more than the sport line, which includes a whole body kit and some other pieces?
$800 for a steering wheel is not a good ROI.

As far as ragging on the wheel, you must referring to someone else.

No problem sir.

I have Dark Burl Walnut in my M-Sport because I bought it off the lot way back in March 2010.

I'm sick of it.

Here are some better pics of Dark Burl Walnut, albeit with Gray Dakota:

Turned out bad:

I agree.

Thanks again.
Yup, I'm convinced NOT to get it, nor consider it.

Sorry dude, I just looked at what I posted and realized how it came off, my bad

The wheel comment was a general statement, not directed at you... just something Ive noticed from various members

As far as the M-sport... I will be jealous of the bodykit even if I don't understand the steering wheel fascination

Garage List
2009 BMW 335i  [5.00]
The only thing that looks good with Dark Burl Walnut is a brown or beige interior. I would suggest aluminum for red or black interior. It looks really nice with Saddle Brown.
