Depending on driving style, I find myself switching to Sport(+) most of the time the last 1000 miles or so. It just feels more connected/better. I have the Sportsteering too.

If I am in traffic then I would just leave it in eco or comfort mode. Once I get on the highway or have open road then its sport mode. I have a 335i with Adaptive M and Sport variable steering.

Sport+ until I get into the occasional heavy traffic and then I utilize Eco Pro.

I only have a week and a half of driving my F30 under my belt though

While commutting I use comfort most of the time and then kick it into Sport when hitting my favorite on/off ramps. With less traffic on the road then I use Sport.

With the M-adaptive suspension setting is there any way to keep the transmission settings in the normal comfort mode so as to preserve the car's excellent fuel economy while firming up the suspension and steering feel? is the suspension affected by what mode you are in or just the transmission and steering assist? I don't like the idea of having to sacrifice fuel economy to make the car handle better..

As I understand it, the only difference between comfort and sport that will effect fuel economy is the higher shift points and reluctance to engage 8th gear (more sensitive throttle is easily offset by a lighter touch on the foot feed). Thus, put it in sport mode and manual shifting, and shift when the comfort mode would shift.

throttle is completely different in the modes. So lets say I have my foot in steady position, and I am in 6th gear(manual). once I switch from any mode to sport I will get a surge of power.

No. It would be nice if you could have separate control like that.
That was actually one of the points that pushed my in favor of the MT. I can drive in sport and shift when I choose for either speed or economy. You can do the same thing with the 8AT and easier with paddles but it's not the same and managing 8 ratios seems a bit of a chore.

Yes, this is why I noted the more sensitive throttle is easily offset by a lighter touch on the foot feed.

It also occurs to me that you can configure spot mode to change only the chassis and not the drivetrain. Perhaps this will provide the OP with what he seeks.

Why? A six speed manual is no trickier to address than its four and five speed equivalents.

Eight speeds with paddles is trivial, especially as seven and eight are overdrive gears.

Now there's an interesting idea: Try Eco Pro mode in traffic (of which there is plenty in the San Francisco area). I definitely have to turn off auto start/stop in traffic though. Usually I'm in sport mode when the conditions allow it. I'm driving the 335i with Adaptive M and Sport variable steering.

I guess you have the 8spd auto? With manual there is no need to turn off the A.S.S. because it only kicks in if car is in neutral and foot off clutch.

I see that you put fully loaded in the signature. Have you used the auto parallel park feature? how is it?

That most likely means:

Drivetrain - Transmission for automatic cars and throttle response.
Chassis - Adaptive M & steering (not sure if specific to sport variable)

ric124, yes I do have the automatic. Sounds like auto start/stop might be less annoying on the manual. While manuals can be lots of fun, they offer certain challenges in the hills of San Francisco and the traffic around the Bay Area in general so I opted for the 8-speed auto.

I haven't used parking assist yet. I've only had one parallel parking opportunity so far and I forgot to turn it on!

Correct

Drivetrain = Tranny shift points and throttle response
Chassis = Adaptive M suspesnion (is so equipped) and steering weight regardless of whether you have the variable steering or not.

Yes you can. In Idrive under Sport , just check the chassis box only. When you want throttle response just move from drive to sport ( move the stick to the left).
