So I suppose you need a BMW assist :-( , so dissapointing.
Bt audio is disabled once connected via usb (and remains disabled). Music will still come through if you select usb audio in the media menu instead of BT audio.

interesting,

I am searching for an update for my Vehicle but it gives MN-007.000.075 only..
may be it is because I have only standard bluetooth in arm rest.

I couldn't figure it out why it sorts the tracks randomly.. even there is no logic in sorting... it is ******* annoying..

It might be that I have new nav (which is different hardware) as I have F31.

I just got my F30 with the Technology and Apps etc. If I use the Apple cable into the USB in the armrest I get artwork and all and it's light years ahead of my old interface.

Do I gain anything by getting the BMW iPhone cradle or whatever they have?

I've tried connecting my ipod classic to the usb port in center console via both the Y cable that came with the car and the ipod's white cable itself. With the Y cable I can see the songs and it plays them but there is no sound . With my Ipod cable I get nothing, it does not even register it.

I have both enhanced bluetooth and bmw assist so I can't figure out what is not working. My model is the 2013 sport line 328i.

The cables and ipod are all fine I've tested them outside of the car.

I experienced the same thing you did when I connected mine today. I'm currious to hear what the issue is...

USB Memory stick in arm rest USB

Based on what ive read I think the following is correct...let me know if ive missed anything...

My understanding are the the following options exist (except radio and CD):
1. USB Memory stick in arm rest USB
2. iPod/Iphone in arm rest with BMW Y cable (USB and 3.5mm Stereo)
3. Copy from USB to internal HDD using USB in glove box.
4. iPod/iPhone in arm rest USB with standard apple cable
5. Bluetooth streaming

To use the above options you need:
1. Any model
2. Any model
3. Only with Professional Nav
4. Only with Extended Bluetooth/USB
5. Only with Extended Bluetooth/USB

What i havnt been able toget a clear picture on is what different functionality exists for these 5 options.

Can anybody add details about how the 5 different methods vary from a user interface/features perspective.

Im interested in:
Are there differences in the controls
Are there differences in the display (including cover art)
Are playlists available

1. Playlists:Yes (Tricky?), Album art:No
2. Playlists:Yes, Album art:No
3. Playlists:Yes, Album art:Yes
4. Playlists:Yes, Album art:Yes, 2 phones active (for calls) at the same time
5. Playlists:Yes, Album art:? Probably not im guessing, 2 phones active (for calls) at the same time

Thanks to LAnderson23, Rob72
I have the 2013 328i xDrive and tried last night playing music from USB stick using the arm rest USB connection. It does show album art perfectly. However, what I needed to do was embedding the album art into the ID Tag. I am using mp3 files at 320 kbps.

Yes I do have the Navigation option. You can use a software like Tag & Rename to add cover art to your music files (mp3, wma, etc). My music is sorted in folders, by Artist/Album. Tag & Rename offers the option of adding the cover art picture to the whole folder and/or to individual files. Most of the players on Windows computers are able to recognize the picture if it's located inside the folder. However this is not enough for BMW's onboard computer.
The second option is to add the same picture to each individual music file. Tag & Rename has a batch function that reads the jpg files in each folder and adds them to the music files. The picture becomes part of the ID Tag this way, somehow embedded in the file.
Plugged in the arm rest usb of my car, the album art showed on BMW's display without problems.

Thank you very much Alin ! I will try this on my Nav-less system, see if it works

I just reviewed some of my files, those already have the art works in the tag as far as I can see, so it seems that my NAV-less idrive do not present art works even if those are tagged

OK, Bare with me please! first post, and I promise ive tried to read the threads!

I have an F31 320D and an Iphone 5.

Sadly this is looking like a bad combination! My phone works perfectly with Bluetooth, but I can only play music through the earphone socket.

I have tried the Y cable from my iPhone 4 with a 30pin to lightning adapter - no joy.

I have also had it in the BMW garage for a whole day with there software specialist! who lied to me and at 6pm told me iphone 5's dont work with your car. Ill send it to germany for them to look at!

I dont have navigation or the enhanced bluetooth as far as i know!

Any advise welcome please

If this is in the wrong thread please move to more suitable location - thanks
