M Sport Line vs. Sport Line w/ some M Performance Parts

I'm assuming the new M Performance parts are still coming for the F30 2013 Sport Line.

I've gotta admit I've never been a fan of the overall M Sport Line look. Specifically, I don't like the body cladding, steering wheel or wheels.

As I figure, we can add the carbon/alacantra interior accouterments of the M Performance parts on a 335 xDrive for a couple of hundred more than the M Sport Line would cost us.

I know aesthetics is to-each-his-own--I think the performance parts blows away the interior look of the M Sports Line--but am I doing the math right?

I've gotta be missing something here...it seems like no brainer to me...

in the M Performance brochure, it says that a lot of the body/areo parts require M Sport Pgk.

M Sport is $3200.
M Performance interior trim is $950 or less.

or are you referring to the whole M Performance setup including all interior and exterior parts?

Wow! You need the M Sport Line to get any M Performance Parts? Yeah?

I was thinking of skipping the M Sport Line and just getting a Sport Line with the interior dash, steering wheel, and console carbon/alacantra M Performance Parts.

You'd have to pay an extra $1500 on top of the $1700 Sports Line charge for the M Sports Line just for the privilege to pay an extra $1950 for the carbon interior?!?

Incredible, if that's the story the 2013...

I agree, the M Sport package does.not include the M performance wheels nor the breaks offered on the M performance accessories, you would assume that if you are getting the package it should include all the components, plus I'm not really sure that I like how the steering wheel looks, I guess except for the estroil blue exterior, which is really cool, I think a perfect combo for me would be a 335 xdrive SL

I think, given the pricing, BMW wanted to keep the Msport package pricing low. $3200 for the 335i is not bad at all.
$1500 for a cool body kit, unique and thicker M steering wheel, and some cosmetic pieces is not bad for $1500 extra.

If they were to include the M sport brakes and other M performance items, the package price could have easily hit $5000, and there would be less takers. Maybe the 2014 model year will have an "M sport+" pkg., or
"M sport performance" package, where those things can be included from the factory, or maybe even a 328/335iS with a power boost.

I think the X drive models in M sport won't get the sport suspension.
That will disappoint some customers.

So to confirm, M Performance Parts can only be ordered with the M Sports Line?

Yes, M Performance parts such as the front splitters and rear diffuser can only be fitted onto the M Sport bumpers.

This is something we covered in Our Interview Detailing BMW M Performance Parts, from 2012 Geneva Launch

Even though I live and drive in 4 seasons Chicago area, I wouldn't get the Xdrive.
My last 2 BMW's did just fine in the winter, and my current BMW is a 135i with lots of power and does just fine in winter.

If I lived in a hilly 4 seasons region, I might opt for Xdrive, might.
In all honesty, if I lived in a very hilly region I'd probably go with an A4 quattro with sport suspension. I had an 06, and that car was phenomenal in the winter, and very sporty in the summer.
Not as sporty as my BMW's with sport, but quite nice in it's own right.
In a hilly snow area, the A4 would sail smoothly along, and still be awesome on the summer.
I haven't driven Xdrive, but from all the pro reviews I've read, it's intended more to be a BMW you can drive safer in the winter.
It doesn't improve handling, quite the opposite. Part of that is that it sits higher and thus it's center of gravity is higher, and it ruins the magical RWD balance of a BMW 3.

Also, as I said, from what I hear Xdrive Msport will NOT come with the sport suspension oddly enough.

I'd go for Msport RWD to get the much needed and wanted sport suspension.

You're talking about the exterior cladding but I'm talking above about the interior carbon/alacantra parts: the dash and console. Those interior M Performance parts are only available to buyer of the M Sports Line too?

One of the suppliers seemed to imply that the carbon and alacantra interior trim was even a DIY thing.

Weird...

I asked and I was told that the interior accessories fit all lines, not only m sport

Yes, I only refer to the exterior parts. M Performance interior parts do not need M Sport interior.

If you have a sport line could it be possible to buy the m sport bumper, maybe in the future?

I can't imagine that the M-Sport bumpers won't fit on a standard F30. It is true that the splitter and diffuser are molded to fit the M-Sport bumpers, but I seriously doubt that the actual bumpers won't fit. It's not like the M-Sport has flared fenders.

The only reason I see that the bumpers won't fit seamlessly is the fog lights... which is almost a non-issue for someone motivated enough to retrofit the aero kit. Who knows, maybe I'll the first one to try it out.

All parts of the M-performance range will fit all cars, except for the aerodynamic pieces, which requires a M-sport bodykit as a base. On the other hand, the steering wheels in the M-performance range will not fit the M-sport steering wheel unless u change the airbag as well. This is not necessary for a Lines car as it's a direct rim swap.

I didn't state that M Sport bumpers won't fit a standard F30. I said M Performance aero parts need to be fit onto M Sport bumpers.

See clarence's post also. It's correct.

Yes, the M Sport bumper can simply be retrofitted onto any F30, whether it's base, sport, modern, or luxury line.
