I totally get that - the gadget stuff is a high priority for me too...

However, I am wondering about the need of podcasts and audiobooks, you can achieve the same by streaming from your phone or ipod. WLAN for audio/video streaming is fun but I doubt the video part will make it's way to the US, seeing how we don't get the TV functions either. Also, where does it get its WIFI from? Seems a bit illogical as people have their phones usually hooked up and it seems easier to get the data from that. Fuel assistant looks cool too but if it works as well as the traffic data does (which doesn't do anything here, even though it is advertised that it should, same as some other interactive things), then I get some doubts. The idea is cool though, I just wonder if it will work as intended. Quote:

As for the WIFI it will not be used for getting wireless internet but you can connect other devices (internal network) to stream it's video and music through DLNA (more devices compatibility). Maybe it also can share your internet as a hotspot for your other devices and no more need for part 84212186313 (Car hotspot). Bluetooth AVRCP streaming with versions 1.0, 1.3 will be used. Version 1.4 since November 2012. |

no way for Australia
There is no way this will be iun the Australian cars: too much distraction, and then it will only work when stopped, and so the igadget will do all of this. The GPS nav is cool, but I would not think that the detail would be yet available

Top Tip to BMW: Instead of adding quite a few more or less useful features. Concentrate on making your system compatible with the modern day mobile phones, including perhaps the most popular one –*the iPhone.

What do you mean? iPhone is fully supported. The only thing missing is support of Siri for 4S.

The phone integration pics are from a blackberry. The Blackberry phone integration exclusivity agreement must still be in place. I'm sure that BMW had no idea that RIM was a super nova in the making.

i wish that bmw would at least allow upgrade for things that improve safety (like autocomplete, more txt-to-speech content throughout, etc.). i would be happy with that, and to me it seems like a very reasonable request.

I am a gadget guy like the best of 'em, but I want my BMW to drive well. Take the R&D $$s and make the steering system better and install iOS in the dash. Why re-invent something that is unnecessary?
Thanks.
