nope didn't know that...but in this instance that doesn't tell me much, as I know nothing of merino leather....I'm about 80% sure it was in response to a fellow asking about brakes.

That was me arguing about the brakes, I still have chosen not to believe you, regardless of facts.

Thanks for M Sport brakes pricing. Very reasonable in my opinion. By no means this is a huge upgrade from the 335i stock brakes but it will provide some addtional performance as well as greater appearance.
Just for comparison here is a comparison: 335i (stock) F: 340mm x 30mm -- 4-piston fixed calliper R: 330mm x 25mm -- 2-piston fixed calliper 335i M Sport Brakes (CDN $350 factory upgrade) F: 370mm x 30mm -- 4-piston fixed calliper (blue w/ M badge) R: 345mm x 25mm -- 2-piston fixed calliper (blue w/ M badge) As well as Euro brake pad material that may dust more but have better performance. Anyone know if these are Brembo callipers? I read somewhere they might be but have my doubts. Last edited by HouseMusicRules; 06-24-2012 at 10:18 PM. Reason: corrected rear rotor thickness to 25mm (from 30mm) |

Also, do you think there are any concerns about clearning 18" rims (for winter setup) w/ the M Sport Brake upgrade?

For US/CDN-spec cars the pads are of different materials to EU/ROW-spec, they have less dust but much less initial bite.

I'm talking abt stock brakes. The stock brakes on the 335i have 4-piston fixed calipers at the front & single piston sliding calipers at the rear. Only the optional M-sport brake system have 2-piston fixed calipers at the rear.

According to E90Fleet, you're wrong about the brake pads.
"US M Sport models will not get the regular low dust, less bite US brake pads but will be fitted with Euro spec pads on the standard rotors. US cars with the optional M Sport brakes fitted models will also receive the same Euro pads as their European counterparts." This is without ordering the Msport Brake option. http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=688550

Are you groing w/ a staggered setup for winter w/ your 18's - 225 up front, 245 in the rear? Or 225 all around? Have never gone w/ a staggered setup for winter (everyone always says its better to have the same/thinner tire all around for winter driving), but does it make that much of a difference?

I've never driven staggered but I can tell you it'll be quite a rough ride! My Dad owns a 2010 E350 4matic and my Mom has a 2010 ML350 and they both have the tires the same all around. I have a good friend who drives a heavily-moded Genesis during the winter and he too went with 18" all around non-staggered. It's only from November till March that we really need to be safe after that the weather is pretty stable. Plus it doesn't snow all the time so just get a set of nice 18" non-staggered and you'll be really safe! Where u going to order the VMR wheels from? Got a good dealer?
