It has nothing to do with hp or "ring" lap times. It has to do with size and the fact that the top goes down.

All in all, cars like the Z4 and Boxster are pretty good looking cars but I always feel bad for some poor shlub when I see he's behind the wheel of (I always assume his girlfriends) VW Beetle.

The Z4 isn't nearly as girly as the Boxter, if that makes you happier.
