If it were me, I would lose interest. If they're not organized enough to answer their phone or return my calls, I probably won't be happy there. But yeah, stop in as a last resort.

Be straight up about pay if you think you're worth it. Provide empirical evidence to justify the pay. Confidence isn't just for getting laid.
