Angry Should I stay or should I go now

Hello everyone. Before I continue, allow me to express my deep gratitude for the HUGE amount of help you guys provided. I only posted 1 topic but I spent the last week reading a billions posts from this forum which only translated as a huge impulse to drive to my dealer and start the ordering process.

H O W E V E R

And this is the reason for the post, today I drove to the dealer and they took me to inspect the cars (still at customs) in person...

...and I found out instead of having the "Efficient dynamics" dashboard, all 17 cars have an analog MPG display (I found just one pic on the forum from another owner and I'm attaching it as a sample).

Now, as the gadget head I am, to me that's a big deal. I mean, how will the Eco-Pro showing nice little blue "reward miles" would work now?

After asking the dealer they said the version with the efficient dynamics dashboard would arrive in 6 months.

My question to you guys is this: Should I stay or should I go (come on, you know you want to sing a long http://cl.ly/GLTQ)

People with the same type of dashboard, would you be kind enough to explain what feature will I not be getting for not having the LCD display on the dashboard?

One thing that you might find interesting as a anecdote is ALL 3 lines cost exactly the same. Sport with flappy gearbox, Luxury and Modern: $ 61.000. All of them are loaded with extras, except for the freaking standard dashboard.

The best advice that I can give you now is just buy it and enjoy it. You can wait 6 months and then something else might that you want will be coming out in another 6 months and then another 6 month and it goes on and on. I have the style that you picture and then I realized after three days or driving I didn't care which it had. Some of the neat gadgets are cool for a few days and then......meh. Just driving the car 6 months earlier will give you enough grins to make it worth it.

Our non-diesel is the same. It has to do with whether you have HUD or not.

You have to order the navigation or the extended display to get the full black panel display.
It's not that big of a deal. You're just missing some eye-candy. The information is still there. Go for it. If this is your only gripe, stop wasting time and just buy it!

You should definitely get the car that you want, any compromise made through impatience usually leads to regret!

However, I am not convinced the difference between the instrument clusters should be a deal-breaker.

The extended display comes as standard with any of the options that benefit from it (e.g. NAV) so, if it's not on the car, you don't actually need it. In fact, you'll only be taunted by the shadowy unlit icons for features your car doesn't actually have (e.g. Sat NAV, lane departure warning etc)! You can see them in this thread: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=658362

Personally I rather like the clean look of the standard panel and the 4 conventional gauges (but I am bias). Happy to post a pic of the ECO PRO gauge on the standard cluster if you would like?

In the meantime, there are some more pics in this thread: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=650900

I agree with Prince completely!

However if you can wait, then just wait man! Just be patient and order what you want. At the end of the day, this is going to be a huge purchase for you, so make sure you get what you want.

I'm patiently waiting for the M Sport package before I make any final decisions. I was so close to ordering my car last Saturday but then my Dad was like if this is not what you want, then wait. I'm spending close to $70,000 on the car; so I need to be happy with it!!!

Just my 2 cents...

If you go there will be trouble

Seriously though, I wouldn't want to regret anything if I spent this much.

just go and wait 6 more months for what you want!!
If you take it now and thinking of that little LCD display on your dashboard everyday,
you will regret why didn't you have wait for 6 more months and have a smile on your face every morning! saying:"Yay! I've got my fancy instrument cluster!!"

The dash in your link looks COMPLETELY different to the dash in this thread. The gauges are even different not just the MPG indicator.

In the US, which dash do we get in a 328i or 335i sport line with no NAV and no HUD?
I thought the dash in your link is the dash every new 3 gets?
The dash in this thread looks more like my E46 gauges and dash.
What gives?

Stay!
On the f10 the "efficient dynamics" is just a stupid blue graphic that lights up in a line, it doesn't do anything, doesn't mean anything, and you'll probably never look at it again once you get it.
I'd be more concerned what other, more useful stuff is missing.
6months is too long, 6 weeks may be a maybe.. you gotta to really want that stupid graphic if you're willing to wait for like 1/14 of the f30's cycle life.
Just use it to get a better deal or give the dealer some grief.

Garage List
Teixido - Are you getting the options or packages that the extended display comes with? See PrinceBarin's post to see. If not then might as well take the car now because even 6 months down the line if you still order those features then chances are you will still end up with the analog display.

Depending on the market, u can order extended display as a standalone option & it doesn't cost too much.
Only u can figure out whether u want to wait & also whether the cars in stock are to ur liking.

Totally agree!

This is the reason I too "troll" these forums....I didn't even know there was a different dash. Every F30 I've sat in or driven had the extended display. I thought that was just the way they came! I did not plan on ordering Nav/Technology package for my car. I would have be unpleasantly surprised by this dash!

I don't want to have ANY regrets when I get into my brand new BMW!

Hey. Sorry for any confusion.

There are essentially two cluster types: standard and extended (the extended is marketed as “full black panel” in the UK for some reason).

However, the style of the guages varies between lines so you will see a number of variations. I have tried to provide some useful examples below, including a shot of my standard cluster in ECO PRO mode. I have the standard cluster and I think it looks just fine!

Standard cluster (UK 320d Luxury)

Extended cluster (US Sports)

Extended cluster (US luxury)

Extended cluster (Canadian Modern – km/h only)

That takes some serious self-control imo, much respect! Hang in there Maz, it will be worth it in the end!
