Are the 8 speed auto 335i cars faster than the 6 speed 335i cars?
I know having extra gears helps, but I was shocked to see I think it was motor trend run a 13.3@103.9mph with the 8 speed sport auto, but C&D ran 13.8@103mph with the 6 speed manual. My guess is a lot of that is driver error on the ET side, and I know to take mag racing with a grain of salt, but I was wondering if the 8 speed sport auto is going to be faster around town or in a race than the 6 speed? Anyone hear BMW talk about this? You'd think having extra gears closer together (if that's the case in the 8 speed) with fast shifting that it'd be a shade faster than the 6 speed.

quite possibly...
... but i prefer to row it on my own... it might be slower but it's more engagin. Having said that: i think my next car will be an auto, those 8AT are supreme! Could i be getting lazy?
