Incase nobody knows: This HAPPENED in 1988 in the "Very Hotly Disputed Spratleys Island".

As one of the claimants in the Spratleys Island, china MURDERED those
Vietnamese!!!...This HAPPENED in 1988.

This dispute has been going on for a long time.

The reason for this is Gas reserve and possibly oil.

Another reason is, there was a story in economist.com / stratfor.com detailing the chinise plan of an "imaginary line", this is a defense line in which they have to get those islands to become part of that defense in case of a foreign attack.

This has been going on for a long time.

The vast majority of AK and AK variant rifles out there today are made in China. They may not be the most precise but some of the modern variants are nothing to scoff at. Even an old AK47 copy is still lethal, and will never break.

There are talks about having a more permanent facility there again.. not really an actual base per say but much more frequent exercises between US and PI forces...
