Replaced mine with Osram CBI's. They are 5000k with the illumination of a 4300k. Best bulbs on the market hands down. A pure wight light without any loss in visibility. Had them in my previous M3 and had to get them for my 335. They are absolutely
![]() Install is super easy though it will be easier removing the wheel first. The E90 section here has some DIY's. It is the exact same minus getting to the bulb. On the F30 you simply pop off the plastic fender cover in the liner to gain access. Everything else is the same from then on. |

I'm about to try this on my F30. I salvaged the D1S Osram CBI's (my retrofit not standard) from my 2011 E87 LCI , a far superior whiter light.
The retaining socket on the E87 was a plastic type tag on the side of the bulb holder that you rotated counter clockwise to release the bulb. There was also these metal tabs that located around the square base of the bulb. Is the arrangement the same on the F30? |

ad78 - I'd agree with you on the 6k bulbs. I did try them and your eyes are just not good with light at that end of the spectrum in the dark and rainy conditions. Also, the more blue/white the bulb the less light output there is.
However, I have been using the Osram CBI's, rated at 5k, for over a year now. As m3 Guy has said they are fantastic. Same amount of light as stock and just enough white/blue light too. Does anyone have pictures of the HID bulb socket? |
