"The all-new BMW 3 Series comes with Efficient Dynamics which means 0-60 in 5.9 seconds and 36 MPG. Which means this Ultimate Driving Machine has all of the performance you expect from a BMW along with the fuel economy you might not."

Chris Pine really does a great job as the new voice for the "Ultimate Driving Machine."

Reminds me of the old days when Joseph Campanella did it.

Good job BMW!

Oh wait, there is brake energy regeneration? How have I not heard of this. I am about to go through the press release now.

Nice commercial, but not classy. Have an older gentleman with a deeper voice say select-few words, add cello/piano background track and you've got a classy ad.

Very nice commercial, love the idea of combining the sportyness and fuel efficiency into one add

The 3 series is not really a classy car imo.

I thought this car was 110lbs heavier than the old car?

"Lighter" seems like a misleading thing to brag about if the car is actually heavier than before...

Interesting combination featuring a red car that's green and aggressive.

not sure what you have been reading the F30 is lighter then the e90.

40-45 kg (88-99 pounds) lighter than E90 sedan, depending on engine

Great argument, if only it were true. The F30 is lighter than the E90 was.

+1, it's 'a lot of marketing'.

Until you put them both on the scale....the difference is not what BMW wants us to believe.

Exactly. But the whole clip is great and all we want is some kind of 'emotion' in a car, especially BMW etc. MPG is not really an emotional thing(yes for your wallet), the U turn is. So I like the ad a lot. Well done in marketing terms

@ 9/10 seconds the voice says: "...it means tyres with reduced resistance..."

Why fgs didn't the car do a perfect Scandinavian Flick before the U Turn, beautifully sideways clipping the kerb and accellerating out of it with a tad of controlled oversteer?
Those tyres are really suited for that stuff LOL.

Ah, I see, Al Gore is watching.

That's true. That said, I found the ad to be cheesy (not sure how to describe it). I liked the M Coupe balance advert. As Robin Hood said before, lots of marketing. The ad sounds more like a sales pitch. IMO, an ad should market the product but in a subtle way and shouldn't be too obvious.

too much sales ad, feel like a more focused image ad would have been appropriate.

I agree seeing the car go through the hairpin sideways would be more appropriate for me, but the reality is most 3 Series buyers are normal folk who don't care much about sideways driving. The M advert from last month showing the M3 CSL going sideways around the track is more our taste, and smart of BMW to create adverts that appeal to both type of buyers. For me, the best new 3 Series ad was watching the videos of Joey Hand and Bill Auberlan driving around Laguna. That would sell cars to someone like me.

Exactly.

The majority of 3 series are not sold to people "like us".
