I've had an F30 loaner for 6 days. I run it hard in mixed highway city. 80 on the highway. I'm getting 27.9. Ver very impressed by the N20.

I filled up at the same station as I always do, at the same pump (there's only 2 diesel pumps so it's not hard) and let the pump go until the automatic click, as I always do. Commuting over roughly 2 weeks, I traveled 418 miles with an average speed of 31 mph. Highway speeds were between 60 and what I'll call extra-legal, depending on traffic conditions. My driving during this time was somewhere between "spirited" and "like I stole it". Subjectively, I'd call this 50/50 city/highway driving, possibly leaning toward city just a little bit based on the average speed of 31 mph. The computer indicated 30.1 mpg. I filled up 13.419 gallons for an actual 31.1 mpg. This number is consistent, since my trip computer has always been 1-2 mpg pessimistic. |

Just got my first tank. 29.1, driving mixed traffic, in only comfort and Eco mode. That includes at least 1/2hr of idling at the dealer with the a/c on all the time. I'm saving sport mode for after break-in

My mpgs are getting better as I am putting more miles on the car. Travel about 80 miles per day, about 72 of which are on the highway. Screen said 36.3 so far, increasing .1 better every 10 miles or so.

My last tank before the HPDE was 29.0 mpg. I burned an 1/8 tank of gas during each track run at the HPDE. WOT!

This is what I got the other day on a short trip to the airport. As you can see this was only a 24 minute/24 mile trip but I think its representative of what the car can get with 100% highway driving.

after about four weeks with a 328i w/8spd auto - I'm averaging 27-28 overall and 34-35 when I am just doing highway driving (I'm driving on the autobahn so driving between 80-100 mph). I can average around 30 overall when I keep it in ecopro mode and control the lead foot.

So I just drove from New Orleans to Dallas, and since the car's still in its break in period i decided to go easy, thru the entire drive I didn't cross 80mph even once and thru the entire drive in cruise control, deaccelerating uphill. Ended up with 38 mpg before getting off at my porch.

I got about 29 mpg going to/from work this week. It's 8 miles each way...about a 50/50 split between highway and city driving with the A/C running. I have been turning off the "shut off feature," and I haven't used Eco Pro at all yet. I have to drive through a BAD area to get to work and the thought of the engine cutting off makes me nervous!
![]() This first tank of gas it's going to be kind of hard to tell what my mileage really is overall. We spent at least 45 minutes with the car idling at the dealership last week, and then on Saturday it was probably idling for a total of 2 hours in my driveway while I figured things out! ![]() Edit -- I just used Eco Pro for the first time for an almost 10 mile trip...about 8 miles of highway and 2 miles of surface streets. My gas usage was just over 45 mpg! Last edited by AggieTexan; 05-12-2012 at 02:30 PM. |

It depends!
I have done a range of trips now.
In UK miles and 320d in Eco pro - I got 64mpg doing a very gentle right foot but 75mph motorway run 60 miles round our M25 motorway. - I get 52-53 on my route to work which is mixed driving. |

Got 30 mpg and 460 miles on my last gas tank. I'm really impress. In one week going from Miami to Orlando, hope to get 35 or more, even though ima push the car hard and go at 80+ mph. I love this car and it is insane that it is capable of cruising at those high speeds with such comfort and return great mpg

Recently, I've been driving only city miles, averaging about 20-21 in comfort. But I have a manual so it's really up to me as to how heavy my foot is.
Any of you guys crossed 100 mph in the break-in period? I've taken the revs to about 6000 rpms once or twice. Driving constantly in the 1k-4k range, usually don't go above 4000. I'm not doing any damage to the engine am I? I'd suspect that modern engines don't really need that much babying. |

Trip to San Diego from Phoenix and back
So this last weekend I took a trip out to San Diego from Phoenix. I started the trip computer each time. These were the results with my 335i Sport line.
Drive from Phoenix to San Diego (end point in North County) ![]() Drive from San Diego to Phoenix (shorter due to different start point, closer to downtown San Diego) ![]() I was pretty impressed with the MPG. My G35 Coupe would have only gotten 24-26 mpg. I got home and still had 1/4 tank to go. |
