morimoto elite hids
I have a 2013 f30 with halogens headlights and I'm considering an aftermarket hid kit. I think the best brand is morimoto elite hids. I want to know if anyone install this brand on a 2012-2013 f30 yet. If so is there any errors? Thanks in advance.

I ordered the H7: MORIMOTO ELITE HID SYSTEM from the The Retrofit Source and it will be here next week. I will try to remember to take pics and post.

The clips BMW uses for the bulbs to lock in are a very poor design and after wrecking my hand inside the bulb compartment trying to seat the bulb, the reflector sub-assembly separated inside the headlight. After countless efforts trying fix it, I finally had to give up as some of the plastics used to connect the 2 assemblies broke. I now have to bring the car into my dealer, $508 for the headlight, $200 to put it in (the front bumper cover has to come off to get the headlight out). The one I did get in was not the white I expected. It had the bluish tint and made the car look cheap. I did opt for for the XB-35 bulbs which were just supposed to be brighter than the 5000K 35w bulbs which supposedly are white. There were no errors or flickering. In the end, I took the driver's side Morimoto's out, but still could not get the original halogen bulb back in. It looks/sounds easy when you read the manual, but it is very difficult. You might be better off letting someone else take the risk. |

Hey thanks for the advice! I'll definitely bring it to a professional.
So you got the 5000k bulbs? I was worried that it would have the blueish tint which would make the car look cheap. I guess I'm better of with the 4300k 35 watt bulbs. Hey I appreciate the feedback. Thanks dude! |

My ultimate goal was just to get rid of the boring yellow. At some point, I will get the right bulbs, take the wheels off so that I can see into the reflector compartment and hopefully not destroy any more headlights. Here is a pic of the drivers side X35 bulb before I removed it, as compared with the passenger's side OEM halogen. Good luck with yours!! |

I got a set of generic HID's in 6k, and no errors, but they were unbelievably dim. So for the sake of safety I took them off. I ended up getting the BMW performance lights. Still yellow, but I can see them shining half a mile away haha
