I went through this same BS when I got my F10.
Me: Don't put the plate bracket on, I'll do it.
Dealer: We're required by law to attach the bracket.
Me: Here's your choice, put the braket on and I won't take delivery of the car. Leave it off and I promise to attach the plate.
Dealer: OK.

Just used 3M double sided tape on top of clear bra. I can take it off anytime I want with a heat gun.

They are not holes just dented inward for alignment if you need to mount the plate. Why put ugly ass holes on bumper that does not need a plate beyond me.

I can confirm that all USA F30 with the "updated bumper without the licence plate bracket" have the 2 "locating dimples" as seen in the picture below.

They are where dealers are to drill to fix front plates on for the states that require them.

The other states will have the "dimples" showing

Interesting. I dont know if the red 335 sportline i saw at my dealer today came with it attached or they attached it(which would make no sense considering i am in florida), i guess all i can do at this point is tell the dealer to not install(if it comes separate)

Any idea how mine would come if it was produced in december?

The BMW USA document says the Bracket and Screws come in the vehicle and the dealer must fit if required, using the "dimples" as drill points

I actually think all F30 worldwide have the "dimples"
But most countries require a front plate, so few will ever see them.

Since the bumper change to the two dimples is as of mid-January, I am going to guess yours will come with the big bracket we have been seeing on cars just being delivered. The three that just came in all had the brackets pre-attached and were not dealer installed.

Good luck.

All the ones that arrived at my dealer yesterday all had the big bracket pre-installed.

I visited my dealer today in Montgomery, AL. Their launch cars arrived today with the brackets as well. I told them that mine better not have them. I was told that BMW issued a bulletin stating that the brackets were not installed on builds after the second week of January. The reasons they were installed prior to that was due to the fact that they were "launch cars" with no specific destination. Everyone should rest assured.

I saw a truck on the highway yesterday full of F30s (328 and 335), and ALL of them had the hideous license plate bulge.

The fact that I saw them in Florida makes me even more frustrated since a front license plate is not required in this state.

That is not true. The dealer would have to remove the bumper to install it.

guys, the car will come with the plate holder like it or not. It comes from the factory installed. Not 2 holes but 8 holes. 2 to line it up and 6 holes for the screws. The holder is not easy to remove, you would need to remove the bumper to get to it.
We have already removed the bumper to get the holes and reflectors filled.
