Loaded 328i or 335i with nothing (Which wil you pick)
![]() Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I am just trying to see what others will pick and some opinions along the way. Which of the following would/will you get?: 1) 328i - Sport - Premium pkg - parking pkg - xenon lights = $45,545 or 2) 335i - sport - leather (no pkg) = $46,995 Another reason for this is trying to stay in the 45,000 price range and see what people want more power or goodies. Thanks ahead for all comments ![]() |

In that case, i would get the 335...i dont need any of the gadgets or gizmos, so my 328 is 42000...now
my 42K 328 or a stripped 335 for 47K...328 easily

I guess it would be a matter of mileage, weight and personal preference in that case. If you need to save money on mileage and weight (in some weight based road taxes you might enter a higher tax), then go with the 328i but if you don't care much about that and want to have the better sounding and a tad faster engine, go with the 335i. All-in-all I don't really think there is too much difference between the both of them, there is some difference in how the car handles and feels but that is only minimal in my opinion. |

Better this time around than in 2005, when my fairly lightly optioned E90 325i cost me AUD$96,000. Very high cost for BMWs, Mercs Audis etc. here in Oz. No proper reason for it either, but that's how it is here.

I would take 328i with Sport, Prem Pack, Prem Sound, Sport Auto, Xenons over 335i Sport + Leather. |

Using your method to decide upon an engine, the person who does not care about power should surely end up with a 316d. The 328i is still a quick car. Not as quick as the 335i, of course not, but fast non the less! The 328i also drives slightly better than the 335i too because it is lighter.

Thank you all for inputs. I think iwannabeMer convinced me here. I do care little about power but most say 328 is enough, and hoping that chip come out ;p to tune.
328i sport, premium pkg, premium sound, xenon, sport Auto with paddles. Mineral grey ext with gray/black interior can't wait. |

Kinda hard to say having not driven either car; but I think the extra nimbleness of the 328 might be more every-day noticeable vs. the higher power of the 335i.

the way you have it presented, i would go with the 335i. it would cost you an extra $1500, and you would be losing comfort access, universal garage door opener and auto dimming mirrors along with the parking package. however, i would think the resale value of a base 335i would be slightly higher than a 328i with more options added. if you were comparing apples to apples with the options i'd say save the money and get a 328i but since you want to add the parking package that's my .02. either way i'm sure you'll be happy.

I feel you I was thinking about it, but man 2500 for a nav system and hub. I don't know if it is really worth it. I got an iPhone that can do both and bluetooth so uses speakers :0)

335i 100%. I did this before with my ex E90 335i back in 2006, it was a not so loaded one compared to a loaded 330i , which I already had.
I still think the engine is the core/basis of any BMW/car. (the M in BMW stands for Motoren=engines in German ) , so why not choose the most powerful available? 60hp more for more or less 60kgs more, sounds(...) good to me. ![]() I was lucky to choose a rather loaded 335i 6MT. But if this was for real in my situation, still the 335i. I don't want a 4 cylinder engine in my BMW. Once was and is enough. ![]() |

![]() Even without testing either car, I know the 328i will have enough power in daily driving. I'm not going to race with such a car and neither will you I assume. I think there are a lot more advantages for getting a 328i than there are for 335i - lighter more balanced car, better fuel economy, lower insurance, you can add more usable goodies. Sport Line, Prem Pack, Xenons, Paddles and Heated Front Seats is all I need. I'm still not 100% convinced on getting a Prem Sound though. A 328i equipped like I want is $44,345, while a 335i would be $48,445 - a difference of $4,100. Even a 335i Sport with leather is more expensive at $46,995.
