BIMMERPOST NEWSF30 328i and 335i Driven to Limits by Joey Hand and Bill Auberlen at Laguna Seca! So, how do you properly test the performance of the new 2012 3 series F30 sedan? You take it out on a race track like Laguna Seca, as we did earlier this week. But, if you really want to see the true limits of the F30's performance, you hand it over to the professionals. BMW ALMS driver Bill Auberlen and ALMS+DTM driver Joey Hand were in attendance at Laguna Seca raceway to give us (and our members/readers) a wild ride around the track in both the F30 328i and 335i. Both the 328i and 335i were Sport Line models and had manual transmissions. The F30's limits were phenomenal in their hands! Both Joey and Bill were truly enthused about the F30 3 series (as evident in their videos) and we heard them commenting to each other off camera after the runs on how well both the 335i and 328i performed out there. Enjoy as the drivers take BIMMERPOST out for some hotlaps at Laguna Seca. Be sure to watch the videos back to back for a great visual (and aural) comparison of how the two F30 models compare in terms of handling, acceleration and sounds. Share this story |

On the other hand, after having an F10 528 on loan while my e92 was in the shop, the F30 328 sounds a whole lot better. They must have redone the exhaust notes as its the same engine. |

i watched the 328 first and thought "wow no need for a 335" ...but then I watched the 335 video
The sound is awesome. And a lot less shifting with that meety torque band. Gearing looks different in both cars too.

First off, I must say that was a lovely review. Secondly; after being forced to watch the dash for 6 minutes, I think I just feel in love with it. BMW has done it again, they have won me over with the F30.
But one thing, the display on the 328i is different than the one on the 335i. The 328i seems like it has a border around it and the 335i seems like it look like an iPad. |
